The Earl Takes All by Lorraine Heath (Hellions of Havisham #2) – Always Doing
https://alwaysdoing.wordpress.com/2016/05/03/the-earl-takes-all-by-lorraine-heath-hellions-of-havisham-2
Because thinking about reading isn't enough. The Earl Takes All by Lorraine Heath (Hellions of Havisham #2). May 3, 2016. September 19, 2016. After her husband returns from a two-month sojourn, Julia finds him changed. Bolder, more daring, and more wicked even if he does limit their encounters to kisses. With each passing day, she falls more deeply in love. First things first: as hard as it is to do, this is going to be a spoiler-free review. All of the events I mention are either in the jacket copy ...
The Viscount and the Vixen by Lorraine Heath (The Hellions of Havisham #3) – Always Doing
https://alwaysdoing.wordpress.com/2017/01/13/this-viscount-and-the-vixen-by-lorraine-heath-the-hellions-of-havisham-3
Because thinking about reading isn't enough. The Viscount and the Vixen by Lorraine Heath (The Hellions of Havisham #3). January 13, 2017. January 18, 2017. Now the sedate and, more importantly, secure union Portia planned has been tossed in favor of one simmering with wicked temptation and potential heartbreak. Because as she begins to fall for her devilishly seductive husband, her dark secrets surface and threaten to ruin them both unless Locke is willing to risk all and open his heart to love. In real...
Kazen – Always Doing
https://alwaysdoing.wordpress.com/author/alwaysdoing
Because thinking about reading isn't enough. I'm a Japanese-English medical interpreter and while spoken words are my trade, written words are my love. I review books of all sorts at Always Doing. Breathless by Beverly Jenkins (Old West #2). March 17, 2017. February 23, 2017. Historical romance with protagonists of color (here African American) is always. A good thing. Love. Jenkins is well known for her history chops and she’s true to form here. And how many books set in the Arizona territory ...There i...
Palimpsest by Catherynne M. Valente – Always Doing
https://alwaysdoing.wordpress.com/2016/11/18/palimpsest-by-catherynne-m-valente
Because thinking about reading isn't enough. Palimpsest by Catherynne M. Valente. November 18, 2016. November 11, 2016. I love setting-driven novels. It sounds absurd – a place providing the thrust for a book? 8211; but think The Night Circus. That was my first love, Palimpsest is my second. The titular place is kind of like an STD and is passed from one person to another in just the way you’d expect, and you visit in your dreams. All these horrors are yours to survive! We follow four characters as they ...
Committed by Dinah Miller and Annette Hanson – Always Doing
https://alwaysdoing.wordpress.com/2016/10/25/committed-by-dinah-miller-and-annette-hanson
Because thinking about reading isn't enough. Committed by Dinah Miller and Annette Hanson. October 25, 2016. October 27, 2016. Involuntary care is a a minefield of ethical conundrums. How do you decide who needs treatment? What if the patient calmly refuses it? Will the treatment itself be more traumatizing than beneficial? How can you ethically hold people against their will? And when is it okay to let them go? Doctors, [the gun club representative] noted, are seen by gun owners as an extension of the g...

Constant Gardener
Monday, February 16, 2015. Chickens in the snow. I haven't brushed off the ramp, or scraped away the snow yet, so no one wants to come down. I had been holding a sprig of sorghum seeds so the Golden Buff flew over and landed on my arm. I set her down in the snow, and she reacted pretty well. I had thrown out some fruit and veggie scraps a few weeks prior, and they managed to dig them up out of the frozen ground. I have an LED light running on a timer to give them extra daylight hours, hoping to keep them...
