http://abcocd.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Sometimes I have good ideas. Sometimes I reorganize closets at 2 am. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Welcome to my testimony. For this class I'm taking on digital brands/media, we are to produce a blog. Me being who I am, I must include some rantings about grammar or design. It's what I do. Or did, but whatever. In the spirit of admitting mistakes - and internet transparency - I've corrected my blog below. I'm human, though sometimes I don't like to admit it. See a typo here? Two out of three is pretty bad.

Sometimes I have good ideas. Sometimes I reorganize closets at 2 am. Sunday, February 26, 2012. Back on the Psychiatrist's Couch. Nights like tonight make me look back at my life as a newspaper person and let out a long, slow sigh of relief. The Daytona 500 was supposed to take place today, in addition to the Oscars, and an NBA All-Star game in Orlando. Last post I dazzled you with Twitter screenshots. Well, dear readers, today I will use my Facebook friends' posts to illustrate my points. What I wish m...

Sometimes I have good ideas. Sometimes I reorganize closets at 2 am. Sunday, March 11, 2012. New Hope for the Digital Future. I may be changing my opinion. How open-minded and scholarly of me, no? I credit Chapter 4 of John Hartley's. Another thing that happened this week that immediately came to mind when reading this book was this whole Kony 2012 business. The video. Hartley contends that more public thought will likely lead to "better" times ahead (p. 96.):. In terms of history, more. So extending th...

Sometimes I have good ideas. Sometimes I reorganize closets at 2 am. Sunday, March 18, 2012. I'm Surrounded by Sweets - and I Know it. From the Web comic xkcd.com. Nope, I am not that person in the comic from xkcd above. I am one of those Internet users who is more apt to be distracted by a good LOLcat. Than I am a troll's inflammatory statements on a blog somewhere. I am one of those that Evgeny Morozov's book. Somehow, I don't think so. Or not limiting access to it. He gave (along with Clay Shirky) at...

Sometimes I have good ideas. Sometimes I reorganize closets at 2 am. Sunday, January 29, 2012. The power of being plugged in. What I find interesting from all this is the fact that on both sides of the argument sit fairly privileged people determining what is best, or what should be a first step, for these other societies. To quote from Zizi Papacharissi's "The Virtual Sphere." (New Media and Society):. Those who would benefit the most from the democratizing. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). From the Web com...

ABC.OCD: Lots of Information
http://abcocd.blogspot.com/2012/02/lots-of-information.html
Sometimes I have good ideas. Sometimes I reorganize closets at 2 am. Sunday, February 5, 2012. We read "The Information," by James Gleick for this week. The enormity of this book equals its content; from drum beats to Wikipedia, it covers the rise and transformation of information through the ages. An interesting question to ask after digesting this read is, "What are we going to do with all of this information? Sure, we can catalog all that is for future generations, but then what? But that's the point...

Sometimes I have good ideas. Sometimes I reorganize closets at 2 am. Sunday, April 22, 2012. Not What, But How. I still believe that the Internet is a tool. Yes, it allows us to do things differently, more quickly, or more visually, but it still allows us to do what we would have done anway. In reading for Monday's class discussion, two of the articles - "News and the news media in the digital age: implications for democracy," by Herbert J. Gans. And "Twitter: Microphone for the masses? My mother's post...
