MED 09: Fins, Brief Winds, and then Ziphius
http://med09-expedition.blogspot.com/2009/08/fins-brief-winds-and-then-ziphius.html
Tracking Noise, and Whales, in the western Mediterranean. Monday, August 31, 2009. Fins, Brief Winds, and then Ziphius. The weather was good for the most part today as we worked through an area where Cuvier's beaked whales had been seen from ferries and a few sightings from other researchers. We covered a lot of water during the day and found a lot more marine mammals than the area covered yesterday. Read a summary of the goals and purpose of MED 09. Fins, Brief Winds, and then Ziphius. 3 August 09 Survey.

Tracking Noise, and Whales, in the western Mediterranean. Thursday, September 3, 2009. Where Did They Go? The forecast is for marginal conditions over much of our area tomorrow, but we are hoping for better than expected weather again and for the beaked whales to 'pop up like mushrooms' as was described on one of our better days by one of our Italian colleagues.
