Josie's Family Thoughts Corner: October 2012
http://jfthoughtscorner.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Josie's Family Thoughts Corner. Saturday, October 13, 2012. Is Gender Equality really Equality? So how does equality apply to gender? Why am I talking about equality when it comes to gender? My perspective on this is that the world has begun to diminish and even destroy the value of classic male and female roles. A woman may even be looked down upon for choosing the role of a stay at home mom. She may have been seen as forfeiting her dreams - of being uneducated or lacking ambition. Either wa...Well - si...

Josie's Family Thoughts Corner: December 2012
http://jfthoughtscorner.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Josie's Family Thoughts Corner. Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Young Adults and Divorce? So the final week of class covered a very sensitive topic for me and my family - Divorce. Divorce can be an extremely painful process, and quite complicated ranging from reasons for divorce and results of divorce (influences on individuals emotionally, physically, financially etc). I want to know my chances of divorce if my parents were? Will I continue the negative/ineffective coping strategies my parents used? 3) Cont...

Jessica Marie: November 2012
http://jessicamariegraves.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 24, 2012. Saturday, November 17, 2012. This week we talked about communication and power/conflict and the importance of counseling. When we communicate about 14% is the words we use, 35% is our tone and 51% is non-verbal. I thought this was really interesting because what we are saying is only 14% of what the other person receives and reads when we are communicating. Saturday, November 10, 2012. http://iamshannanigan.blogspot.com/2012/12/evil-is-stupid.html
My name is Shanna Jones and I started this blog for my Family Relations class (FAML160) at BYU-Idaho. I have never done a blog before so forgive me if I struggle a bit at the first. I am really excited for this blogging experience and to share some of my thoughts concerning the family. Friday, December 14, 2012. There are many valuable things that we must teach to our children. It is our responsibility. One of the most important things that we must teach them is that evil is always stupid.

The Masterpiece: September 2012
http://masterpiecework.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 28, 2012. In Through the Looking Glass. By Lewis Carroll, Alice had just helped the White Queen with her dress attire and suggested she get a lady’s maid. The Queen replied she take her for the job and pay her with money and jam. Alice replied with a kind rejection and mentioned she doesn’t care for jam either. The Queen soon explains this rule to Alice: “The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday - but never jam to-day.”. It was quite interesting. Whether it is between social classes...

Exploring Family Relations: Family is > (greater than) Individuals & Symbolic Interactions
http://whyafamily.blogspot.com/2012/10/family-is-greater-than-individuals.html
Monday, October 1, 2012. Family is (greater than) Individuals and Symbolic Interactions. Last week we explored a few of the many theories explaining life in a family. The two that resonated most with me were the Family Systems Theory. And the Symbolic Interaction Theory. I have seen both of these at work in my own family as well as in other situations. A perspective of the both the Family Systems Theory and the Symbolic Interaction Theory is that 'the whole is more than just the sum of its parts'. Than t...

The Masterpiece
http://masterpiecework.blogspot.com/2012/12/in-time-magazine-article-written-in-may.html
Thursday, December 6, 2012. In TIME magazine, an article, written in May of 2006 by Pro Bronson, was entitled Are Stepparents Real Parents? It is an intriguing question. In his article, Bronson states, “Despite being ubiquitous, step-relationships are rarely recognized by the law. In most states, stepparents are considered "legal strangers" even if they have cared for and supported a stepchild for years. They have almost no official responsibility and barely any rights. What do you think? My friend didn&...
