The Blog: March 2016

http://ambertheblog.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 15 March 2016. I've occasionally been asked how I spend my weekends out here , and because Green River, Utah is FULL of riveting excitement, I'll tell you a bit about them. Inevitably, when I go anywhere on the weekend with a real grocery store, I feel pressured to go in. Even if I don't know of anything I need, I'm wracking my brain for anything that might. Arches and Canyonlands -. Delicate Arch with Brent and Tadd when they came to visit. Overlook of the Green River in Canyonlands. On top of ...

Tuesday, 31 May 2016. Why You Should Cook With Your Kids. Speaking of dislikes, when I started there were so many things I would never have anticipated that the kids didn't like. onion, garlic, cheese, NUTELLA. I am just so curious as to what's going on in their little mouths and minds when they decide they don't like those delicious things. There are hot things and heavy things and there's a chance they'll get hurt. But I bet they'll learn their way around things pretty quick. If knives are some...So cu...

The Blog: For Her

Tuesday, 29 November 2016. I don't get to hug her very often, and I'm not good at calling. For all she's done, I tell her far too infrequently how special she is. Within her is the softest of hearts tempered by firmness and consistency. She convincingly chased children to the stairs under the threat of a wooden spoon with no real intention of using it. When I tattled on my brothers for pinning me to the ground, she asked, "Did you deserve it? Happy Birthday Mom. I love you. 4 December 2016 at 16:22.

The Blog: They're Not Perfect, But They're Mine

http://ambertheblog.blogspot.com/2016/08/theyre-not-perfect-but-theyre-mine.html

Sunday, 7 August 2016. They're Not Perfect, But They're Mine. In honor of my recent week back home, I'd like to verbalize a few the reasons I love my family. Of course, all families have their struggles and their bad eggs (ahem, Luke), but in general mine's pretty great. 3 We'll go out of the way for people, and especially each other. For dad), and we ask every single person at the table if they want more of a dish before we finish it). Which leads me into the next point. 4 We connect over food. Say some...

Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Ethiopia, take 2. Our time in Ethiopia passed quickly, and our last days there were just as full as our first! A painting party on the porch. Over the weekend, Jon, Amy, Chad and the girls enjoyed visiting a beautiful lake. I was a little sick that day, so I stayed home. The group told me they enjoyed their time of hide and go seek, a boat ride, and of course some beautiful views. Jon and one of the boat drivers. The rest of the crew with the other boat captain. On our last night,...

Saturday, August 24, 2013. I know, I know.it is still summer, technically speaking. I am glad that this warm, sunny weather is holding on for a little while- as much as I love fall, I am not quite ready for it. School started back up on Monday. I don't want to speak too soon, but it is going really well! I'm not sure if that it is due to the fact that this is year #3, some smaller class sizes, or just better kids.or possibly a combination of all 3? Rach and sweet little Eve. Some of the crew. We went to ...

Thursday, January 3, 2013. Chad's 26th and our Huber Christmas. You sure arrived quickly! Although I haven't done a great job documenting the last several months, we have been greatly enjoying life! School is going well for me and Chad is enjoying a slower-paced winter. I was giddy and so happy that I actually successfully surprised him! Fun times with Grandpa and Grandma. Some of the boys chattin' it up after dinner. Phil and Steph- expecting twins in April! Chaddy pants and me. Listening to cheery musi...

Monday, May 12, 2014. I had good intentions of doing a "picture post" of our California trip back in April, but in typical form, I am just now getting to it. So, without further ado:. SO excited to be landing in LAX! This was probably taken just seconds before the earthquake we never felt! Enjoying some beautiful architecture along a fun waterway. Rob orienting Chad to LA from our view from the observatory. Speaking of the observatory. Enjoying a walk on Venice beach. Good food was never lacking. We laug...

Saturday, September 28, 2013. A book recommendation for women. This book sounds a little intense, huh? If you're like me, you probably don't really want to identify yourself as a "raging perfcectionist". It sounds like a book for a "high maintenance" sort of girl.which I am not, of course. ;). Laughing. What a ridiculous statement! Wasn't that, in and of itself, proof that I am, indeed, a "raging perfectionist"? It's interesting: the older I get, the more responsibilities I have, and with each new area o...

Friday, July 18, 2014. Ethiopia, take 1. We've been back from Ethiopia for about a week and I figure it is high time I start blogging about our trip! It was wonderful, mainly because we got to do a years worth of catching up with Jon, Amy and the girls. There is something about seeing the people you love in person that email and Skype can't quite replicate. :). Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Onto the part everyone actually reads for: the pictures! Sunday, November 2, 2014. We eat a lot of apples this time of year, and I am always looking for new and tasty ways to use up the plethora of apples we get in our backyard. So, if you are in the mood for some apples and caramel, enjoy! Light brown sugar, packed. Can sweetened condensed milk. Place butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and condensed milk in a saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar, about 5 minutes. Stir un the vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Saturday, April 11, 2015. So far it has been a very lazy Saturday and I'm loving the fact that it is sunny and slightly warmer today. :) Life has been pretty normal for us lately, and we are enjoying the slower pace before planting and spring craziness officially starts. Exploring the Y on our first night :). I just happened to glance out the window as we flew over this amazing sight. Date night- we had some amazing Asian food. Monday, April 7, 2014. Well, it's back to real life for us! California was so great- we keep saying it was our best 'married get away' yet. We were so thankful for the chance to leave the distractions of life and just relax, spend time with each other, and connect with God in a less hurried/distracted way. She is definitely the hostess with the mostest. ;). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
