Monday, September 20, 2010. I shaved my Moustache. It was time. While this doesn't sound like that big of a deal, it is. I loved my moustache, and shaving it was hard. Maybe my post Moustache-iversarry. Could give an idea of the importance facial hair has for me. There was a party to follow the Scripps orientation, with plenty of beer and food provided. After that final baptism, I am now officially a part of Scripps and UCSD. I continue to be excited. Goals during Grad School:. Be finished in 5 years.

Monday, July 25, 2011. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Every morning, I have breakfast at a local shop right next to the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS). The guys know me by now, and all I have to do is wave and they prepare my two 2-egg omelets, two chapatis, and Chai Tea. Chapatis are a tortilla-like flat bread, but more filling. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. The Zanzibar Project is an effort to give American Students experience in a foreign scientific environment while bringing modern oceanographic techniques to East Africa. We work with researchers at Tanzania's Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS), based in Stone Town, Zanzibar, just off the ferry dock. Most of the science here concerns the coral and fisheries ecology, but they have made room for our physical based project. Javier, Mucaco, and Connor preparing the Current Meters.

Saturday, November 24, 2012. This year, I was fortunate enough to witness UCLA at both its worst loss and greatest victory. The next day was Game Day in Memorial Stadium. That is an intimidating stadium, especially for a night game. This helped Cal with one of only two Pac12 wins, against one of only two Pac12 losses for UCLA. Thursday, June 21, 2012. Wrangling Baja: A Chronology. 1012: Cross the San Ysidro Border into Baja, traveled south through Tijuana and Rosarito. 1204: Arrive K58, a surf community with camping and restaurants. Enjoyed lunch with a view. 1233: Paddle out into head-high, beach break tumblers. Very relaxed session, sun comes out halfway through. Smooth sets every 3-6 minutes, nobody to share them with but ourselves. 1812: Purchase beer, tequila, hot sauce, tacos. Nick snags a peeler. 0718: I wake up early.
