Alligator-Farm

1 - 17. The zoo was the St. Augustine Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, Florida, or more commonly called the Alligator Farm or simply The Farm. I was there with my good friend and fellow photographer, Ceasar Sharper. The Alligator Farm has been a popular local and national feature for over 100 years. It is open every day from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Regular admission is $22.95 with discounts for children, seniors, military, AAA, and groups. In addition to the rookery, there are displays and...If you have a...
Oakley Street

Bird photography at some places are almost too easy and convenient. We're supposed to have to lug heavy lenses, cameras, tripods, and backpacks through endless miles of mosquito infested woods and marsh just for the possibility of getting a great shot. That's not Oakley Street in Cambridge, Maryland. Here you get out of your car, walk maybe twenty feet and start shooting as many as a dozen species of wild ducks. Have a comment or addition?

Richmonds Pipeline Trail
http://www.americanwildbird.com/richmonds-pipeline-trail.html
Nest building and courting activity starts in February with incubation taking about a month. April and May the rapids are frequently crowed with adult birds feeding on migrating shad and herring. By June the fledglings have left the nests and are feeding alongside the adult birds, so there are about five great months of photo opportunities. Take I-95 exit 74A for VA-195/Downtown Expressway toward I-195 N/Powhite Pkwy. Turn left onto S 10th St. Take the 1st left onto E Byrd St. Turn right at S 12th St.
Sandhill Crane Colts
http://www.americanwildbird.com/sandhill-crane-colts.html
It didn’t take me long to go back to the nest with newly hatched Sandhill Crane colts. I love spending time observing these gentle birds. A lot of people in Florida get annoyed by them because they wander across the road and stop traffic. As far as I’m concerned, the birds were here first! Then you have to be patient and wait for the babies to nap. But it’s so cute when they poke their little heads out from under Mom’s feathers and come out again! Like all siblings, these young colts have a bit of siblin...
