Life with the Littles, starring Zack. Thursday, June 10, 2004. Zack's gardening skills have expanded to "weed whackering." He loves to pick up sticks or whatever long, thin object he can find and "weed wacker" the edges of the lawn. He is also starting to invent words for certain objects. If you have any ideas on the derivation of the following, please let me know. 1 Zack has an old black Kryptonite U-lock for a bike that he keeps with his tools. He calls it a "chooperstuffer". This morning I gave Zack an english muffin, open-faced, with peanut butter on it. He sat down to breakfast, took one look at the muffin halves and said, "Mom, I usually have tops on them.". Here's a shot of Ian with Zack, doing a little workup on a Bernese Mtn. dog at the Bend Children's Museum. As sons of doctors, the boys take this work very seriously. An exit survey indicated the dog had a good experience with his care, though he's frustrated by the clinic's billing system. Posted by Carolyn @ 10:56 PM. Originally uploaded by littlekidd. The highs and lows of one woman's knitting mania. Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Originally uploaded by littlekidd. I have been knitting. Lots and lots. This is a hoodie in progress for Zack. Yes, I know it is off white. Yes I know it's for a four-year-old boy who considers yellow mustard one of the five basic food groups. It's okay though. The chest measurements in Debbie Bliss patterns are so huge that this won't fit him until he's at least 16. (37" for a 5 year old's chest? Are you kidding me?

The highs and lows of one woman's knitting mania. Saturday, September 23, 2006. Originally uploaded by oregon. Tonight, it was the swifts and the crowd who came to watch them. Each year since we have lived here, a flock of migrating Vaux Swifts has stopped in Portland for awhile on its journey south. I don't know whether they stay for days or weeks, but each night while they're here they shack up in the chimney stack of a local elementary school. And finally, just as the last rays of sunlight fade from t...

In Tacoma was a positively religious experience. It was my first time there, and I looked every bit the Madrona virgin. I came, I saw, I gawked. I met SO many interesting people. I knit till my hands hurt. I slept as little as possible. Here's my swatch from Helen Hamann's. I loved finally meeting The Harlot.

I noticed while I was making it that the colors match Superman's costume - maybe I can use leftovers to make something groovy and Superhero-ish for Zack. It's SO easy. This particular slip stitch creates a magical check pattern. Posted by Carolyn at 1:55 PM. Links to this post. Friday, January 27, 2006. Hip To Be Square. Posted by Carolyn at 9:10 PM.

Life with the Littles, starring Zack. Wednesday, September 01, 2004. It's been awhile since I posted here. Not for lack of things to say, believe me. Zack has had a glorious summer, entertaining visitors at Casa Little and visiting "Grandpa Jim and Lisa" in Jackson Hole. He had one traumatic experience with a freak thunderstorm that blew through our neighborhood one afternoon. If you ask him about it he will reinact it in vivid physical detail. Stay tuned for more. Mom: Do you know what the driver of an airplane is called? Zack: What are Palm Pilots then? Zack: We'll take our Palm Pilots on the plant to make it drive better! Mom: That sounds like a great idea. Where is your backpack? Zack: Um. Actually I had it a little earlier, but some snakes took it. Posted by Carolyn @ 11:30 AM.
