November brought the birth of another nephew. This time from the Nick and Jessica Bird family in Utah. Welcome James Randal Bird - Grandchild #4! He was born November 11 at 7 lbs 9 ounces and 20 1/2 inches. Way to go Jessica! I've yet to meet James in person, but several ichat sessions have given me the feeling he's a real winner.

It turned out to be one of the best beef stews I've ever tasted, and my fever broke and I started improving that very night. Coincidence? Maybe, but maybe not! Here's a rough recipe, in case you have a cold to kick too! Sauté onions, carrots, and celery. Until crisp-tender. Add a few cloves of fresh garlic. Fresh ground black pepper, and cayenne.
