One form of digital story telling that we used (with the particpants of Joy elementary school) in this project is called computer-based digital stories. The second form of digital story we used (with the two schools in Nome) is called the green screen story telling. Future in an Academic Environment. Diversity in Alaska's Schools. Preschool to grade 12 students in Alaska s schools are ethnically diverse, with approximately 25% Alaska Natives, 4% Asian/Pacific Islanders, 2% African-Americans, 5% Hispanics, and the remaining 64% Caucasians. There are over 85 languages represented in Alaska s bilingual programs, most of them indigenous. The two participating schools for the AMIDST project are:. Geographically diverse (one in interior Alaska and one in western coastal Alaska).
