Amigabill Projects: May 2012

Friday, May 18, 2012. HDMI is also PCI-Express too. After my previous post about using eSATA and/or USB3 ports as PCI-Express connections, I was told that someone already uses mini-HDMI connectors in much the same way. I had been aware of Bplus's products, but was not aware until now that they were using mini-HDMI connectors. And they provide schematics for many of their adapter boards to show us how they connect to this mini-HDMI port, so we should be able to have some fun here! Links to this post.

Amigabill Projects: January 2013

Monday, January 14, 2013. I've just learned about UpVerter, an online, in-the-cloud schematic, simulation and PCB layout EDA tool. And it's affordable, for open-source designers, you can use it for free. Or pay for private projects. Compared to KiCad or Eagle, this is interesting as it's easier to collaborate on designs. I've set up a project for such a thing at UpVerter. As well as a linked project at GitHub. Posted by Bill Toner @ 11:32 PM. Links to this post. View my complete profile.

Amigabill Projects: June 2011

Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) 2011. I had the pleasure to attend this year's FTF Americas in San Antonio, Texas. I've previously attended FTF in Orlando, Florida some years ago, which I enjoyed very much, and San Antonio was a convenient location to visit with family and friends we don't see often, so the trip became a family vacation as well. Rick Hartley offered a list of tech papers and books, which I've duplicated as a Universal Amazon wishlist. As we made it a family vacat...

Amigabill Projects: October 2011

Monday, October 24, 2011. It seems that an Amiga Netbook (it. it runs AmigaOS, not some lame Windows or Android thing that has nothing more than an Amiga logo on it like some companies want to sell). Http:/ www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php? Thank you, whoever you are that is making this happen! But as this is a low-performance Netbook, I'll continue dreaming about a mid to high-performance laptop, and here's what I'd really like to include:. 15inch widescreen display size. Or prevented by patent?

Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Here's an example of the microcontroller command text file, where NOP is not. A defined command, linex beginning with # are comments:. Put device1 into bypass mode and talk to device2. Run device2 with opcode 00000110. Again put device1 into bypass mode and talk to device2. Write to device2 at address 0 with page size of 256 using somefile.bin. Tell device1 to do read new program from device2, device1 will talk directly to device2 for this. Define UCACCESS FILE CMD CHARS 3.

Friday, April 13, 2012. PCI-Express over eSATA and/or USB3. Ok, why would anyone want yet another PCI-Express cable/connector? Well, if someone, like me, wants to repurpose a case, which has an eSATA/USB2 combo port, this is a convenient way to get more good stuff out of thatbhole in the casework. Maybe the case doesn't have a standard PCI-Express cable port to make use of. And maybe I don't have the option to add or modify existing case holes. So, how do we do this in a more complicated cable? Long ago ...

Wednesday, April 11, 2007. What's the deal with widescreen? Why didn't the TV makers go with something that matches the letterbox widescreen media "content"? If the widescreen DVDs are coming out at 2.35:1 aspect, why the heck did they make "widescreen" TVs only at 16:9 or 1.78:1 aspect? And why are some computer monitors another different standard at 1.6:1 aspect? Will we see another version of "fullscreen" pan&scan made to exactly fit 16:9 displays? Posted by Bill Toner @ 1:56 PM. Monday, May 16, 2011. Das U-Boot for AmigaOne. Some time ago we obtained uboot 1.1.4 sources. From those who ported it to the AmigaOne platform (though what is publically and officially released is 1.1.1 which I do not think we got sources for. As our goal is to get as modern as we can, I don't care which, only that we can work with some valid AmigaOne sources to get where we want to go), and more recently got sources for a somewhat more recent 1.2.0 version. Labels: uboot u-boot amigaone amiga. AmigaBil...
