Each year so many deserving animals are tragically put to sleep, seemingly beyond help, seemingly beyond hope. One of them would have been AMIGO. AMIGO'S FUND was founded to give second chances to animals like AMIGO who, because of abuse and/or neglect require extensive medical rehabilitative care at a cost that is not always an option given the high volume of homeless animals brought to The Humane Society of Grand Bahama, Bahamas Humane Society, and other shelters throughout The Bahamas and the Caribbean.

The Amigo's Fund Story. AMIGO'S FUND is a Charitable Trust, established in October of 2008, governed by the laws of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. The objectives of The Trust are "the advancement of the care, interest and well being of animals throughout The Bahamas and elsewhere." The Trust was founded to perpetuate the legacy of AMIGO after his untimely passing in 2007. Amigo is presented the ARF Ambassador of Goodwill Award by actor Alec Baldwin with Frances Hayward and Bill Grimmer.

AMIGO was a former stray 'Bahamian Potcake' found starving and diseased on Grand Bahama Island. Rescued and rehabilitated, he became 'poster dog' for The Humane Society of Grand Bahama's 'National Awareness Campaign' on the importance of Spay/Neuter and the care and treatment of animals, going on to become a superstar in The Bahamas and Ambassador of Hope on behalf of challenged animals everywhere.
