November 9, 2010. It was time to finish this trail. I had decided to break the 47 plus mile trail into three parts: Leg #1. St Croix Falls to Luck) 14.4 miles X2; Leg #2. Sunday, October 17, 2010. Stormy Weather: The Elroy-Sparta Trail. August 7, 2010. My sister, Jen, and I drove both our cars down to Wilton, WI to stay at the excellent Amil's Inn (Bed and Breakfast). Wilton is positioned midway on the Elroy-Sparta State Trail. My plan was to bike the top half (Sparta to Wilton) on Saturday, and the last half (Wilton to Elroy) on Sunday, then the two sisters would part and go back to respective homes. Thursday, June 9, 2011. Gandy Dancer State Bike Trail: Last Dance. June 8, 2011. It was a very long winter, and a cool, wet spring. I waited for the trails to dry out, and then was caught up in various activities. Now I am back on the bike, and glad to be there. This last "leg" of the Gandy Dancer. I began, as is often my way, at the end of the Wisconsin portion of the Gandy Dancer (the trail continues on into Minnesota as an ATV trail. In Danbury, and headed back to Siren. Sometimes I do trails backwards.

Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Best Laid Plans: The Bike Trail List. More than 50 rail trails throughout the state! That's the subtitle of "Best Rail Trails Wisconsin" by Phil Van Valkenberg. Hmmm. It seems my list has grown. It has been problematic to determine just which trails are what I consider "touring trails" and which are not much better than muddy, rutted ATV highways. This book has so far been the best source of information for me! Better than the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
