The Amish Monkeys Improv Invasion. Free Scene — The Caper. Given a statuette by the audience, Amish Monkeys Gina and Rocky set out to steal it in the game “Free Scene”, but Frank and Laura stumble upon them. Amish Monkeys Jill and Frank must explain how a cat-shaped oven mitt figures into a poisoning, while Gina and Tracy act it out in the game we invented called “Prop Clues”. Amish Monkeys Frank, Tracy, Jill, Rocky, and Laura use phrases given by the audience to sing a madrigal. Point News Now Feb 2012.

It's a great video from a great series (their videos on narrative are fantastic). And this one has a bunch of applications to improv. Will these things turn a good show into a bad one? Of course not. But they don't serve to give your show the best chance it can have. Walk through the lighting and music cues, give them a cheat sheet, have them do a dry run before the house opens.
