Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Out and ref Parameters in C#. Ref and out parameters are used to allow a method to alter variables passed in by the caller. The difference between ref and out is very important. These parameter modes work in slightly different scenario . The caller of a method which has an out parameter has no obligation to assign to the variable passed as the out parameter. However the callee method is supposed to assign to the out parameter . Here's a simple example:. Value(x, y, out z,out m);.
