MamaAmma.com: Randoms

Thoughts on Various Topics. Monday, April 20, 2015. I love music and dance, and for months I was wondering when Noni would start to dance. You know how parents look forward to the baby crawling or walking or talking? Well, I'd been looking forward to the day when she would dance with me. For the longest I'd dance around with her and she'd just stare or laugh like it was the funniest thing ever. But during these past few weeks, she's started to dance, and I love it! She also likes this one:. There's somet...

MamaAmma.com: Developments
http://www.mamaamma.com/2015/05/a-few-weeks-ago-i-had-epiphany-related.html
Thoughts on Various Topics. Thursday, May 7, 2015. A few weeks ago I had an epiphany related to babies "calling their mothers" Mama. I'm not sure I could have realized it had I not had my own child, but it hit me one day that since "mama" is one of the first sounds a baby makes ("mamamamamama." is more accurate, in Noni's case at least), then at some point in times past Mama. Sounds as well as others. It's really common sense when you think about it, but I guess I hadn't. When she could coordinate puttin...

MamaAmma.com: Eye Infection Remedy
http://www.mamaamma.com/2015/05/eye-infection-remedy.html
Thoughts on Various Topics. Friday, May 29, 2015. Back in January I mentioned that Noni has a blocked tear duct. Turns out the eye. Infected and aside from her eyelid being red, the doctor showed me that there was a green tint to the discharge that accumulates in the corner of the eye from time to time. We were used to dealing with discharge- something that's common when a tear duct is blocked- but never before had it been even. Green, which is an indication that there was indeed an infection. As soon as...

MamaAmma.com: Blocked Tear Duct
http://www.mamaamma.com/2015/01/blocked-tear-duct.html
Thoughts on Various Topics. Friday, January 16, 2015. So, apparently Noni's right tear duct is blocked. It's been the case since early in her life, and because of it her right eye is usually wet and the eyelashes are usually stuck together (unlike those of the left eye which are always dry and fluffy.). I've read that this happens in about 1 in 20 newborns and usually clears up after a few weeks or months. Consulting an eye specialist is advised if it persists after 12 months. Is great, so we don't antic...

MamaAmma.com: Being Pregnant and Giving Birth: My Personal Experience, Part 2
http://www.mamaamma.com/2014/12/being-pregnant-and-giving-birth-my_10.html
Thoughts on Various Topics. Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Being Pregnant and Giving Birth: My Personal Experience, Part 2. To pick up where I left off. We were back home from the hospital after being told it wasn't time. I'd heard/read about this very thing happening to expectant women, and now here I was wondering how I could be feeling everything I was feeling and be told it's not time. (Well, technically I knew how, but still…). Now, given how much I like peace and calm, the thought of being rushed to...

MamaAmma.com: More On Infant Potty Training/Elimination Communication
http://www.mamaamma.com/2015/01/more-on-infant-potty.html
Thoughts on Various Topics. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. More On Infant Potty Training/Elimination Communication. Things have been going really well with the Elimination Communication or "Early Potty Training". Process. Baby will be six months old in a couple of weeks, and is really good at letting me know when she has to "go". It's to the point (well, it's been. There are times when we miss, though. Sometimes I'm too exhausted and don't realize that she has the need until it's too late. But this...We're...

MamaAmma.com: Milestone
http://www.mamaamma.com/2015/07/milestone.html
Thoughts on Various Topics. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. It has been a fun, eventful, enlightening, exciting, nerve-wracking (only occasionally thank goodness), joyous, busy, emotional, and a-number-of-other-terms-that-would-describe-the-experience past year, but we are here! July 29, 2015. My child has lived out her first 12 months of life! We have no plans for a huge. Where- from time to time- I share images and things she's into. Like…her wearing some dresses made by me. :-D. Well, that's all changed....

Thoughts on Various Topics. Friday, June 12, 2015. The tear duct of Noni's right eye has opened up! If you've read my previous posts on this topic here. But still.the wetness. Whatever caused the healing, I am so grateful that it's no longer and issue for us. I was beginning to worry why it was taking so long, especially after learning from my longtime friend/schoolmate/ fellow blogger Bree. June 12, 2015 at 6:58 PM. I am so glad it finally cleared up! June 13, 2015 at 10:51 AM. 07/17 - 07/24 (1). 03/01 ...

MamaAmma.com: Hair Care
http://www.mamaamma.com/2015/04/hair-care.html
Thoughts on Various Topics. Monday, April 13, 2015. Prior to having a child, I had all these ideas about what I would or wouldn't do once I became a mother. Eight months and a couple weeks in, it's become pretty clear that a lot of what I had in mind just isn't practical. For me, practicality is essential. I wanted it to stay loose. So, to prevent the locking process I've started manipulating it more often. Last week I shared images of the first time it was done. While her grandmother says she needs barr...
