SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger. Allows ‘check-in’ messages to be sent to selected email addresses and mobile phone numbers, also contains emergency transponder). The biggest decision for any bicycle trip is; what to carry the gear in? From the Bike Trailer Shop. Which is cheaper and, supposedly, more reliable ...

An Inexperienced Aussie Guy's Mountain Bike Trek through Mongolia. This is a record of my daily distances. An ‘x’ next to the distance indicates that I had a crash or major mechanical issue on that day, ending the days riding. A ‘c’ next to the distance indicates that the distance has been calculated ‘as the crow flies’ using the GPS, and the actual distance is probably greater. 10km W of Lun. Way Bayanuur and Ogii Nuur. Way Ogii Nuur and Tsenkher. 11km NE of Ovgon Khiid. Way Nalaikh and Choir. Build a w...

The Route | amongolianadventure

https://amongolianadventure.wordpress.com/the-route

An Inexperienced Aussie Guy's Mountain Bike Trek through Mongolia. The overall route that I have planned is from Olgii in the west of Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar (the capital city) via Ulaangom, Tsetserleg, Kharkorin (ruined capital of the ancient Mongol Empire). From Ulaanbaatar, I plan to travel south-easterly, mostly following the major railway, to the Chinese border. A total distance of 2200-2400km. The total trip should be about 2200-2400km in Mongolia with a possible 350-450km ride to Hohhot in China.

An Inexperienced Aussie Guy's Mountain Bike Trek through Mongolia. Shanghai – Part 1. My first day in Shanghai was a busy one; I first had a look around the Peoples Square before going to the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art that was featuring a great exhibition on the history of Pixar animation. A lot of the work that goes into these films is art in its own right, some of the story boards, sculptures and sketches are just brilliant. I am finding Shanghai to be fairly different to Beijing. Maybe i...

An Inexperienced Aussie Guy's Mountain Bike Trek through Mongolia. Beijing – Part 4. Temple and gardens in Jingshan Park. The Forbidden City is a huge complex of temples, pavillions and palaces that housed generations of emperors. It is very impressive and had plenty of good museum displays although, like most tourist attraction in Beijing, it closes fairly early. The rooftops and terraces of the Forbidden City. The grand entrance to the National Museum. The gardens in the Temple of Heaven Park. Texts Fr...

A Slightly Snowy Sunday | Endless Revolutions

https://endlessrevolutions.wordpress.com/2013/06/24/a-slightly-snowy-sunday

Stories from the road. A Slightly Snowy Sunday. June 24, 2013. And tagged Acheron Way. My plan was to ride to Warburton, take the unsealed Acheron Way to Marysville, climb Lake Mountain. Then either ride the Reefton Spur back through Warburton and home ( 235km) or ride the Black Spur to Healesville then home ( 215km). Acheron Way – A road less travelled. Acheron Way, in tip-top condition. Its not often that I get to ride from my house to the snow, but today it was worth it! A little bit of snow. Getting ...

Stories from the road. Salute to Irene Plowman Audax 200km – February 15 2013. May 16, 2013. The Salute to Irene Plowman. We moved along at a very un-Audax speed, actually arriving at the Mt. Martha checkpoint before the support crew (this is a famously well-supported ride), however, by the time we had our brevets* stamped, they had arrived and we were chowing down on corn-beef sandwiches and fried chicken before we knew it. 6:24:02 (88.0% of total time). Delirium 24hr Cycle Race – One hell of a day! | Endless Revolutions

https://endlessrevolutions.wordpress.com/2013/07/15/delirium-24hr-cycle-race-one-hell-of-a-day

Stories from the road. Delirium 24hr Cycle Race – One hell of a day! July 15, 2013. Late in 2012, an advert appeared on the side of my Facebook feed that caught my attention, it was for a 24hr cycling event in April in Cowaramup, near Margaret River Western Australia called Delirium. Last year had been a watershed year in my cycling, I had thrown myself into Audax long-distance riding, completing a number of long events, culminating in the 1200km Great Southern Randonnee. And an exhausted victory salute.

A site about the joy of riding uphill and a guide to Victoria's best climbs. January 14, 2013. The Great Southern Randonnee (3 days, 1200km). Most of us would consider a 100km ride to be a morning well spent and a 200km ride to be a truly epic day in the saddle. But there are some recreational cyclists who go well beyond these distances, pushing themselves into the realm of the seemingly impossible. One such cyclist is Joel Nicholson. When I’m not riding up mountains with the Hells 500. On Monday October...

Stories from the road. 3 Peaks Challenge 2013. June 5, 2013. And tagged 3 peaks. The 3 Peaks Challenge. Is one of the toughest rides on offer for the amateur cyclist in Australia, it takes riders through picturesque Alpine region of Victoria and over some of the hardest climbs in the country. Whether you are aiming for a 10hr finish or just hoping to beat the Lantern Rouge and the 13hr cut-off time limit, the 3 Peaks Challenge offers a serious challenge to riders of all abilities. Photo Credit: (James Taylor/Mark Trueman). I only heard about the Geigerrig Dirty Gran Fondo. By chance, but it instantly caught my interest, it was something a bit different and looked like a heap of fun, so I entered straight away. The only decision I had to make was: which bike to ride? Pumped up to 100psi) on my old roadie and turned up.

Stories from the road. HuRT, pain, suffering and a lesson in humility. September 13, 2013. Like most events I enter, the Hunter Race Trail (HuRT). Stories from the road. Great Ocean Road Series Audax 600km – February 21 2013. May 27, 2013. The combination of amazing views, tough climbs and unpredictable winds makes riding on the Great Ocean Road both enjoyable and challenging, and I have ridden it previously during the Great Southern Randonnee. Stories from the road. 3 Peaks Training – To be Lean and Mean. May 29, 2013. And tagged 3 peaks. As the name suggest, the 3 Peaks Challenge. Although I crossed the line in 2012 swearing, “Never, ever again”, within a week I was already planning for 2013 and, after the post-ride delirium had passed, I started to analyse some of the errors I had made leading up to and during the ride. In terms of timing, 3 Peaks is very well organised and the published time splits. With a fairly similar regime to the previ...

It was a big match for one of these sides … and it wasn’t Chelsea.(Source: http:/ soomaalidamaanta.net/. At the Emirates yesterday, Chelsea played Arsenal. A lot of observers suggested that the neutral would be right behind the Gunners against the apparently dreary and boring side from Stamford Bridge. That did not apply to this particular neutral.
