The Story of Trees. Hello, I’m Bek. And this is my husband, Jared. We live in Portland, OR. And we love it. Like a lot of Portlanders, I didn’t grow up here. But when we arrived to this place of rain, trees, mountains, coffee shops, pubs, and filled with a community full of wonderful, genuine people, I knew I was home. Things that I love:. My manly, bearded, tattooed hubs. A hot cup o’ tea. Things I do not love:. Let’s be nice to each other. : ). One Comment on “ About. Jana Miller One Design a Day.

And the Birds Sang… | Among The Evergreens

https://amongtheevergreens.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/and-the-birds-sang-2

The Story of Trees. And the Birds Sang…. Better. And before I know it, I’ve dug my way back in with the lingering throbbing of claw marks etched on the walls of my heart. I’m sorry Jesus. For taking You as some flippant presence that is dependent on my mood, my predetermined expectations, my own version of how I want my story to go. Sometimes, I CHOOSE loneliness. I CHOOSE wallowing as a means of self-protection. But this isn’t what it’s supposed to be. Do you know how I know this? Larr; Merci Beaucoup.

Advent: A Holy Paradox | Among The Evergreens

https://amongtheevergreens.wordpress.com/2014/12/14/advent-a-holy-paradox

The Story of Trees. Advent: A Holy Paradox. Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is bright. This carol about the night Jesus was born is one I never understood. When I imagine the hustle and bustle of travel-worn people arriving in an overly crowded town, I imagine it was anything but silent. Anything but calm. No, the world is not always bright. And no, it is definitely not silent. That is what we long for…a holy silence to interrupt our noise so that we can hear it speak. This is what Christmas i...

This guy. | Among The Evergreens

https://amongtheevergreens.wordpress.com/2014/08/15/this-guy

The Story of Trees. He used to have the hands of a photographer. Smooth. Hardworking, but a little aristocratic. But I like this version better. I like the callouses he has earned since learning to become a welder, and how his hands always seem to be stained a bit black around the edges. They are scarred too, from remodeling our house and rebuilding his truck and motorcycle entirely on his own. The truth is, I got up early today to make you breakfast and the pancakes turned out to be heavy bricks of unco...

More from Mary: We're Engaged!

http://morefrommary.blogspot.com/2014/10/were-engaged.html

Friday, October 24, 2014. If you're wondering where I've been or why I've been so silent the past several weeks, I have good reason. Things have been quite busy, but very good. Some people compare the auction to childbirth: 9 months of preparation all culminating in a quite intense and stressful event with an amazing result at the end. I see it as a really long marathon, in which you just can't wait to cross the finish line. Needless to say, it's exhausting. I gave him a strange look and responded, "I do...

More from Mary: Paradise Camping

http://morefrommary.blogspot.com/2014/08/paradise-camping.html

Friday, August 8, 2014. Last weekend, Chris and I joined in his family's annual camping trip at Paradise campgrounds near Bend, Central Oregon. We got there on Friday evening and his younger brother had already set up a tent for us - thanks, Eric! Despite an air mattress that deflated during the middle of the night both nights, it was actually a pretty comfortable camping setup. August 8, 2014 at 10:11 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). More from Mary: Deschutes Fishing

http://morefrommary.blogspot.com/2014/09/deschutes-fishing.html

Monday, September 29, 2014. This past weekend, Chris and I went on a fishing trip with his family. His dad, Dan, is an avid fisherman and he invited us to go out on the Deschutes with him to fish for some Steelhead. This was different fishing than I've even done, and I loved it! As it got dark, we all sat at the picnic table and played Apples to Apples by lantern light. You could hear the river rushing just about 50 yards away - so relaxing! More from Mary: 2015: A Year of Learning

http://morefrommary.blogspot.com/2015/07/2015-year-of-learning.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. 2015: A Year of Learning. It’s been quite a while since I last sat down to write out a blog post. And a lot has changed since then. In fact, I can hardly think of anything that was the same at the beginning of this year as it was at the beginning of last year. When 2015 rolled around, I heard someone mention a tradition, a New Year’s Resolution if you will, of having a word of the year. One word that would be a focus or a theme for that whole calendar year. When I decided on the...

Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Hood to Coast 2014. Last weekend was this year's Hood to Coast Relay, one of my favorite weekends of the year. This was my 6th year to run this race. My goal is to eventually have run each of the 12 legs in this relay, so I am now half way there! I was in Van 2 with 5 dudes: Drew, Jed, Robbie, Marty and Ben. Fun group, but always a little interesting being the only girl in a van with 5 smelly guys. Let's just say we all got to know each other pretty well. By the en...What a fu...

More from Mary: June 2014

http://morefrommary.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 9, 2014. I was able to spend a little over a week in Texas at the end of May, which was so wonderful since my Texas trips are usually whirlwind weekends. Having 9 days in Texas gave me the opportunity to spend good quality time with family and friends. Lots of time in the water! There was plenty to do including playing baseball, jumping on the trampoline, laying in the hammock, and ping pong. Tubing behind the boat. Happy birthday, Papa! Smores around the firepit. Our own fireworks show.

More from Mary: May 2014

http://morefrommary.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 23, 2014. Being 30,000 ft above the earth brings a fresh perspective that tends to get lost in the chaos of our everyday lives back on the ground. From up here everything down there seems so small and simple, so smooth and easy. The rivers seems more peaceful and less rapid, the mountains seem more glorious and less treacherous, and the motion of cars and humans seems more fluid and less hectic. What a radical difference, and what an overwhelming experience of the goodness of God. I’ve ...

http://morefrommary.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 28, 2014. Through the Eyes of Children. Innocent, naïve, pure. these are all words that describe young children. There is so much they don't understand. They have so much to learn. But there is so much beauty in the innocence of a child. Being naïve can be a precious thing. And the pure heart and spirit of a child is something that is impossible to regain once it is lost. To be able to see the world through the eyes of a child again. what would that look like? We pet at least 4 other dogs on...

Ramblings of the Wee One

Ramblings of the Wee One. Thursday, November 10, 2005. Celebrities in the news is another pet peeve because it is obvious that the media have no sense of honour when it comes to getting their story. The media blitz when a celebrity loses a loved one, like William Shatner finding his poor wife drowned, is out of control and frankly it's disgusting. I don't care what Brintey Spears calls her baby and I have no interest in what people are wearing to the Oscars. Do you want to know why I don't watch the news?

The Story of Trees. And the Birds Sang…. Posted on April 5, 2015. Better. And before I know it, I’ve dug my way back in with the lingering throbbing of claw marks etched on the walls of my heart. Do you know how I know this? I wonder, over two thousands years ago did the birds sing that morning too? Could they sense the world had forever changed? Friday, April 30, 2010. Or are they figments of my imagination only real on TV? Bookstores are so inviting with all their light and comfy chairs, and easy to find books and libraries are just so cold, quiet, and uninviting. I wish I liked them, but I just don't. Among The Fallen Stars - The Book

Monday, March 26, 2012. Why Should You Read, "Among the Fallen Stars? This is a story of two sisters, but in reality it is about light and darkness. It's about recovering from mistakes that hold us in a grip we cannot seem to break free from straining to hear the familiar voices of those who extend a hand of hope and love. In fact haven’t we all felt the sting of darkness? And, are we not all shackled by some kind of unseen and restrictive chain? Enjoy being among the stars! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
