Since we live downtown, and specifically in the Gayborhood, we often leave our apartment to discover unexpected parties - an arts festival or gay pride parade or something else fun happening on our street. Monday, March 30, 2015. As I mentioned, our staycation last week was hampered by the fact that we both got sick and ended up spending a lot more time on the couch watching TV than out exploring various Philly neighborhoods. Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Remember when I randomly won that story slam. Well, the "grand slam" of all the individual slam winners from the year was last week. I thought it would be at another small venue, but it was actually at a giant theater and pretty intimidating. The theme was "thanks a lot"and my story was not as dramatic as the last one:. Sunday, January 25, 2015. I love orchids, but I've never been able to get one to re-bloom after the initial flowers fall off. I usually keep watering them for a few months until I give up and buy a replacement. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Road Trip: Driving through NM and AZ. I know I've been posting only about our destinations so far, but today's drive from Gallup to Phoenix was so beautiful we had to take pictures. Instead of going the direct way on the main interstate highway, we took a slightly less direct route that went through the Pueblo of Zuni in New Mexico, the Fort Apache Reservation in Arizona, the Tonto National Forest, and lots of gorgeous scenery in between. But no photos are allowed without a permit.

Saturday, July 4, 2015. The drive from Austin to Gallup took most of Friday, but at our Gallup friend's recommendation we stopped in Albuquerque for dinner at El Pinto. We thought it was just a good restaurant she liked, but upon arriving we realized it's actually a giant old hacienda/garden complex that is a Big Deal.
