As I am in a work isalnd in the middle of vacation, yes even from Blogger, I wanted to update my doings from this last work day. I will post later on all the fun in Canada we have been having, including my latest pet project and the lumber-man-Harland, but for now I'll stick to work. A month ago our youth at church held a charity auction for camp. I offered up a tasting gourmet menu for a couple. My offer brought some tough competition, and sold for a good amount. Our friends Jean-Marc and Rachel won, and last night they collected. Amuse Bouche: strawberries filled with basil cream and reduced balsamic vinegar. Sharp cheddar cheese bread loaves. This last week during my 10 days in Europe I had an atmospheric treat, mostly from the history that of the restaurant that sat around the room. In Denmark I ate at the company cantina as part of the Academy, which actually is a delightful experience. Take Me Back [Away From] West Virginia. Looking out from the Confederate Ridge line. 65279; The conference was at Snow Shoe Resort in WV, and I had to fly in to Charlottesville, VA, rent a car Sunday afternoon, drive 3 hours to the resort and stay the night. I spoke at 3pm Monday, and drove back for a 6am flight Tuesday to Chicago. I was only in WV really for just under 24 hours. A church in one of the mountain valleys with the sunset. With the rising mercury of the summer months, we are clearly familiar with the scorching sun and record highs of July, I concurrently feel myself thawing from the singular focus of my college commitments. The cardboard tube sits near my nightstand, with the sheepskin waiting to be unrolled and framed, and I find my spirit similarly unrolling from a cramped rest.
