Tuesday, 25 March 2008. Battle for Haditha and the anniversary of the war in Iraq. There has been much media reporting on Iraq in the last couple of weeks due to the fifth anniversary of the war. The most striking thing I watched last week was Nick Broomfields film 'Battle for Haditha'. Pro-choice protest Cardiff 4th March. I went along to the Pro-Choice protest in Cardiff this month. Media comment: December 2007

http://amyblyth.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 18 December 2007. I went to interview a Reiki 'master' today for an article I'm planning to write about the health and relaxation benefits of the treatment. Elaine, an OAP who has been practising Reiki for 12 years, has a full list of clients and pupils and does an immense amount of charity work. She even teaches Reiki to people all over the world - she is going to Bosnia for the third time in January to spread the Reiki message. Elaine has also healed a man who had a hip replacement and was abl...

Friday, 9 November 2007. Why do women earn less than men? According to a Guardian article on Wednesday. Women graduates earn on average £1,000 less than male graduates and go into lower paid and skilled positions than men generally in the work place. Don't we already know this? The survey may be based on new figures but it's a reaction against yet another cultural myth prevailing in society, that women and men have equal access to the work sphere. Wednesday, 7 November 2007. Like many people, I have beco...

Media comment: Prostitution reforms dropped to avoid more prison strikes

http://amyblyth.blogspot.com/2008/02/prostitution-reforms-dropped-to-avoid.html

Friday, 29 February 2008. Prostitution reforms dropped to avoid more prison strikes. I read yesterday that plans to help rehabilitate prostitutes and remove the term 'common prostitute' from legislation are being scrapped so the government can concentrate on avoiding any more prison worker strikes. This is evidence yet again that women's rights and protection are low down on the governments list of priorities. What would it take for the government to stand up and do something? Thursday, 18 October 2007. What makes a good journalist? Heather Campbell, Editorial Assistant of Marie Claire magazine tells us what makes a good journalist. There's a lot of pressure involved in working for such a big magazine," says Heather, 24. "The feature writers are always telling me about difficult interveiws they've had to do and you always have to come up with new ideas for articles.". So what makes a good reporter? Heather is quick to point out how tough journalism can be. She earns less t...

Tuesday, December 05, 2006. Gears of War - Review. The hype machine really went into overdrive on this one. What with Peter Moore and Epic’s own Cliffy B continually praising the game, breaking through the hyperbole and getting to the core of the game, up until release that is, has proved rather difficult. Should keep most busy and with the cliff hanger ending, it shouldn’t be too long till were back in the fight with Marcus and the rest of the Gears. Tuesday, December 05, 2006. Sunday, April 13, 2008. Cars, which have always been stunning, now look ultra-realistic. Each one is presented with loving care and an attention to detail that goes way beyond anything in the previous iterations. A new racing perspective is available, you can now race inside the car itself for the ultimate ‘Stig’ experience. This new viewpoint adds immensely to the realism of the racing, there is only one small problem. Sunday, April 13, 2008. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Games and modern culture! The way...

Thursday, January 31, 2008. A visit to Lion Head Studios? Tomorrow, as part of my course in magazine journalism I’m heading down to Guildford to Lion Head Studios. I’ve been asked to write a profile on somebody within the public eye. After much thought and careful consideration I decided to shoot for the stars and give Peter Molyneux a bell and see if he was available. I’m so excited that I’m going to explain to you one of the more exciting areas in Molyneuxs up and coming blockbuster Fable 2. Check out ...

Friday, March 14, 2008. Rising like a phoenix out of the ashes and into an arcade for the modern era, sleek, beautiful and full of Hi-Def next-gen technology where we can all come together and celebrate our passion. Monday, May 05, 2008. I’m sure everyone is pretty sick of reading about GTA4, but feel I need to throw in my two cents for good measure. I, like a lot of people, was up at the crack of dawn on Tuesday. Blurry eyed I stumbled to my local Game and dutifully took my place among the other tired looking shoppers, all who looked as excited as they did knackered. It was only when we were allowed into the shop that I noticed ahead of me in the queue was a schoolboy, complete with school uniform. He was obvio...

Looking for my portfolio work? Will be back up soon. Can you turn this text into a one-pager with a nice layout? Document contains over two pages of densely packed text. There is no physical way I can make that happen. Please cut the text down to one page and get back to me. Ok, I deleted all the spaces between the headings and the text and I made the font smaller, so now it’s all on one page! But now it’s too small to read, so you will have to use your design magic. To make it legible. :D.

Now what to write about. She knew it had to be young adult and in the first person POV. She knew it had to have lots of romance in it. She knew it probably had to have horses in it (write what you know! Then one day she was talking to her horse, Rally, in the barn and the idea hit her. Rally who is Ransom in Crossing Over was tall, dark and handsome, as well as a talented show horse. If only you were human, she said and the idea for Crossing Over (link to CO page) was born.
