Amy Brumley

Friday, June 22, 2012. I recently became enamored with Mora clocks for their elegant, instrument-like shape. At the same time, I was researching interesting things to make with cardboard. So, this recent project of mine combines both interests into a cardboard Mora inspired clock. It is a working clock with real swinging pendulum and is made from an up-cycled cardboard furniture box swiped from a dumpster. Saturday, January 14, 2012. It puts me in a good mood just looking at those sunny yellows. Just add...

Amy Brumley: Patchwork Embroidered Pillow

http://www.amybrumley.blogspot.com/2011/06/patchwork-embroidered-pillow.html

Tuesday, June 7, 2011. A big, feather-filled, bit of cheerful color, lean on me and read a page turner or make faces at the baby pillow. Welcome to our sofa! I used up some scraps from Danielle Stewart. Love her designs) and added some embroidery. I was really enjoying hand sewing and made these little hearts to add to our art wall. Why make something yourself? I just LOVE to make all kinds of stuff and I'll be talking about it here. What we are making. Silk-screen with fiber reactive dye.

Amy Brumley: Colorful Hand-Dyed Batik Quilt

http://www.amybrumley.blogspot.com/2011/01/colorful-hand-dyed-batik-quilt.html

Friday, January 7, 2011. Colorful Hand-Dyed Batik Quilt. I loved making this quilt! The pattern uses two types of blocks that alternate in rows, for an improvisational look. I copied it from a book at the book store, but I don't remember what it was called- sorry! This was also my first machine quilted quilt, and wow, it came together so fast! This quilt now resides on our family room couch, adding a bit of playful color while waiting to assist in cuddle time and catnaps. Why make something yourself?

Amy Brumley: Bright Mod Quilts

http://www.amybrumley.blogspot.com/2012/01/bright-mod-quilts.html

Saturday, January 14, 2012. I made a couple of quilts as Christmas presents this year. This one was based off of a great Alexander Henry fabric called "le jardin de San Marcos". Those are some bright colors! It puts me in a good mood just looking at those sunny yellows. This one, for my brother, I tried to make guy-ish with all geometric patterns. I love, love, love that zig zag fabric by Robert Kaufman! Why make something yourself? I just LOVE to make all kinds of stuff and I'll be talking about it here.

Amy Brumley: Upholstery- french settee and chairs

http://www.amybrumley.blogspot.com/2012/01/upholstery-french-settee-and-chairs.html

Saturday, January 14, 2012. Upholstery- french settee and chairs. We bought a settee and chairs a couple of years ago with the intention of re-upholstering them. Finally, this summer I bought my first power tool- a pneumatic stapler- and tackled the job. Here are the results! I stripped all three pieces of furniture down to the frame, painted, tied springs, stapled foam and fabric, and glued double welting- viola! By Amanda Brown of Spruce. I totally recommend it! Do you spy some Umbrella Prints.

A little about me. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. January 16, 2010 by lullabymom. We had a wonderful holiday season; cutting our own tree, building a sugar-bomb of a gingerbread house- and eating it too, baking cookies, feasting and celebrating with family and friends. We even saw a tiny little snow fall. Now Eleanor is fond of saying it snows in Austin! We had a funny morning that leads to how she came to know how to sing Silent Night so well! What charmed lives we lead! Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

A little about me. Laquo; Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. March 25, 2010 by lullabymom. Usually Texans complain about having only two seasons: winter and dang hot, but this year we’ve had a long, absolutely glorious spring! We’ve been seeing highs only in the 70’s and some rain. In late February, when the iris are usually blooming, we actually saw snow! I’ve lived here for thirteen years and never seen a snow, so it was a pretty big deal! BTW, Happy Anniversary Amy and Keith! Hope you all are well!

A little about me. Laquo; Outdoor Fun! Summer and Fall 2010. May 29, 2010 by lullabymom. Eleanor has been really into her pink Strider run bike. She has been to the BMX hills on 9th St., the Velloway, and rides every week at the Austin Farmer’s Market. She and Vivian have been riding down to the park on matching bikes! I made a little video of her at the BMX hills- what a cool kid! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

A little about me. Archive for December, 2010. Summer and Fall 2010. Posted in Family life. On December 26, 2010 Leave a Comment. Jonathan is teasing me about my bi-yearly blog update. Yes, it’s true, I haven’t posted since spring, but, really, how can time be flying so fast! Could it be pregnancy? In May, our little ballerina had her first recital, and we enjoyed a visit from Grandma and Grandpa. In June, Eleanor both attended and hosted a tea party, and played dress up with her bears!
