A Myeloma Widow's Journey. Death is nothing at all . I've never heard this poem before, but a FB myeloma friend posted it on her blog today and I must keep it handy. Thank you, Margaret (who lives in Florence, Italy - a place Vern and I had planned to visit before MM entered our lives). Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other. That we are still. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way you always used.

It was written by Jim Chaffee, caregiver and husband to his wife, Janice, who died in February 2007 after a 3-year battle with multiple myeloma. A Myeloma Widow's Journey. Friday, February 13, 2015. 2014 flew by quite quickly . with some really good things that happened and some not-so-good. Just like each year, actually. For all of us. But we survive . and we do our best to thrive in spite of all that life throws at us. I think I've done a pretty decent job of thriving. Well then, that's something I can relate to. So JOY it is. And since this year also brings my retirement, I'm thinking JOY just might be the perfect word. You are so amazing!

Seven months prior to that, in March, Mike Murray from our neighboring state of Alabama was diagnosed. Mike's wife, Angie, and I became friends through a mutual friend, Dina, who knew that we had something in common.husbands with the same type of incurable cancer. Angie explained that Mike's MM was very aggressive, and he would probably always be on treatment.
