Reworking the Awkward Ignorance of Prayer – amy ruth, writer
http://amyruthwriter.com/2015/03/26/when-you-dont-know-how-to-connect-with-god
5 Ways in 5 Days. Mistaken Identity: 31 Day Challenge. Surviving the Summer Project: Philippians. Live Small: 31 Day Challenge. Reworking the Awkward Ignorance of Prayer. Eye contact is much easier for me now. I am able to hold an eyeball connection, before it seems stalker-y or invasively weird (I hope). Praying to see through into the authentic soul of that person. Reaching to understand what they are trying to say beyond mere words. It’s about making a connection. But, how do we do that? Author and pe...

5 Ways in 5 Days. Mistaken Identity: 31 Day Challenge. Surviving the Summer Project: Philippians. Live Small: 31 Day Challenge. With a make-up-less face, in lounge pants, with bad breath? WHO ARE YOU in those angry and impatient moments, when you fail to meet someone’s expectations, when you back up into a car in your church’s parking lot? WHO ARE YOU…when your house is a mess, your kids are a mess, your hair is a mess? For the next 31 days, we will meander. Through the pages of the Bible, uncover. Day 1...

Thursday, May 21, 2015. First Day, Last Day: Kindergarten. First Day of Kindergarten! Last Day of Kindergarten. Kindergarten has gone by in the blink of an eye! It's so bittersweet. I can barely walk in the school this time of year without getting teary. Evie has learned so much this year! Kindergarten has been a BIG learning curve for us and I did not expect that after teaching first grade for many years. School has changed a lot. Evie learned to do most of what I taught my class of first graders. Mrs C...

Sunday, November 16, 2014. Weekend Wrap-up: Tea Party and Celebrating. We had a fantastic weekend! Not that exciting but still fantastic! I had such a fun Friday morning with Evie! After school, we all enjoyed some hot chocolate and banana bread - it was super cold and such a treat to spend the afternoon cuddled up together. We had a picnic for dinner and a movie. Both kids were up before 6! Evie was singing her repertoire of Annie songs and Henry was calling for his Daddy. We normally do not start o...

Friday, July 31, 2015. Evie swam in the county meet earlier this month! It was an experience for all of us. It was the best of the best swimmers after a long season of early practices and tough lessons - hundreds of kids showed up to swim. These swimmers were all six and under. Evie was ranked 20th in the county going into the meet for her age group which is pretty spectacular. Evie was about a second late jumping in for her freestyle and she rolled over too soon with her backstroke. That's okay thou...

The Niemeyer Nest: 10 Year Anniversary Trip
http://theniemeyernest.blogspot.com/2015/07/10-year-anniversary-trip.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. 10 Year Anniversary Trip. Carl and I celebrated our ten year anniversary earlier this month with a trip to Boca Raton, Florida. My mom and aunt were so sweet to come stay with the kids. It was our first time leaving them! Of course, they were fine and we were fine too. I had a few tears every day missing them a bit but knew that within minutes of seeing them life would be crazy again. We will not wait another 6.5 years before leaving again. On our anniversary, June 11, we ate din...

Friday, February 20, 2015. Catching up . . . Snow, Snow and more SNOW! Everyday I think about blogging and then something else pops up for me to do. Here's a quick recap of the last few days:. Carl took the kids out for a bit which was better for me than two dozen roses and jewelry. All the kids played, the dads hung out at the bonfire and the moms chatted in the kitchen. It's been a snowy few days in Nashville - icy and snowy! He never does that and it will likely be his last crib nap since we are plann...

Sunday, April 12, 2015. Lately . . . It's so hard to keep up with a blog now that Instagram is so much easier! For posterity, this is what we have been up to lately. We love spring in TN. Every day, we spend tons of time outside. Both kids are loving scooter and bike rides plus visiting our favorite parks. Henry is finishing up his third month of swimming lessons. He is doing great and we have met our goals. I am sure he will continue to improve over the summer and than we will begin in January. Mary is ...

Sunday, August 9, 2015. Evie's First Day of First Grade! Meet the Teacher was on Wednesday and Friday was the first day! Evie was thrilled to get back in the classroom. Friday, August 14, 2015. Fun at the Williamson County Fair. We made our annual trek to the Williamson County Fair last weekend! We missed last year due to our beach vacation. It was a beautiful day and really fun to see the kids experience the fair. Evie loves all the BIG rides! She had a ball riding everything to her hearts content. Henry surprised us with his love for the fast, fun rides too. It was fun running into friends and reminiscing. I cannot believe this was our fifth fair outing. Henry has a s...

http://theniemeyernest.blogspot.com/2015/07/happy-4th-birthday-henry.html
Sunday, July 5, 2015. Happy 4th Birthday, Henry! Henry - the day is finally here! I have been asking you for months if could please stay three forever but you told me that turning four is the rules! Earlier this week, you asked me if I could still cuddle you when you were 4. I'll cuddle you as long as you will let me! We are on the go a lot since you have a big sister. You have learned to adapt to hot swim meets, to wait patiently in car line and listen to Evie read lots of girl books. What a gift you ar...

Thursday, July 14, 2011. And today I realized. When I tell him I'm going to the moon. And to the girls who felt God's tug on their hearts today and responded in ways that humble me, accepting the Lord into their hearts; even not fully understanding what that means, these girls know enough to know that they want to follow Jesus. These kids humble me. They bring me joy. They fill me up. They teach me how to love unconditionally. They teach me how to be patient. They remind me to be a kid. God is saying the...
