Amy's Acre LLC

Farmer Amy's Field Notes. Friday, June 26, 2015. You know how Midwesterners always talk about the weather? Everyone always chalks up our stereotypical nice ways to living through frigid winters and humid summers with many unexpected and often times unpredictable weather patterns in between. We say that shaking uncontrollably from the cold or straight faced survival of routine 30 to 40 degree temperatures swings from day to night in the spring and fall build character. Saturday, May 9, 2015. Well, to keep...

Amy's Acre LLC: Spring?

http://www.amysacrefarm.blogspot.com/2014/03/spring.html

Farmer Amy's Field Notes. Monday, March 31, 2014. Well, we've hit that point in the calendar where spring has officially arrived, and now that we've had more than two consecutive days above freezing, I guess I can nearly agree. In addition, as a Midwesterner, there are few better conversation starters then comparing the day to day weather to all those 'normal' weather patterns that have decorated my previous life, no matter how short that history book is. Plus it's closer to 65 degrees in my room, so tha...

Amy's Acre LLC: Farm Practices

http://www.amysacrefarm.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_26.html

Farmer Amy's Field Notes. At Amy's Acre the soil is the most important part of the operation. Even the highest quality seeds won't live up to their potential without the proper soil conditions and care. Dave and James have been nothing but welcoming over the last several months as Amy's Acre has taken root. By any luck, that remark is more punny that intended, providing that garlic that was planted last October is continuing to persevere through a very cold winter. Throughout the growing season weeds and...

Amy's Acre LLC: Cauliflower changes everything

http://www.amysacrefarm.blogspot.com/2014/07/cauliflower-changes-everything.html

Farmer Amy's Field Notes. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Farming is certainly a humbling experience. You play all the right cards you can, but things always come at the will and whim of the weather. There is a constant reminder that you can't control nature. You can beat it back and it will regrow. It's resiliency matches yours with no backing down. At least there is always something to do. The broccoli isn't bad either. It's a great Brassica year, broccoli, cauliflower and kale for the masses!

Amy's Acre LLC: About Me

http://www.amysacrefarm.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html

Farmer Amy's Field Notes. Farmer Amy in the foreground. I am Amy Wallner, the farmer and owner of Amy's Acre LLC. I grew up on the west side of Wisconsin in a small town called Galesville. I am the second oldest of four children. Finally, in the spring of 2013 I moved back to Milwaukee. I spent the growing season managing a one acre field of vegetables for the Genessee Lake School. For the first time I took a field from seed to table under my own direction. It was a whirlwind! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Amy's Antics

Family Activites and Updates. Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Life never slows down, NEVER. Telling myself this fact helps me not get too stressed when life is crazy. If I stop waiting for it to slow down and just accept the fact that life is busy and have the attitude of "do what I can and keep moving" life won't overwhelm me so much. Does anyone else feel this way? It's almost Christmas and I have let a whole semester go by without posting anything. Again. Oh well, keep moving. First Day of School. We are...

Monday, July 1. Don't you just LOVE it when candid pictures come out great. almost as good as if you'd paid someone to take them? Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it! Tuesday, June 11. Sorry I've been a way for a while. Wednesday, June 5. This is a really easy little project, fun for kid. The head was made wi...
