The Wide World: November 2010
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Yinzes been to Pixburgh? Poor, neglected blog! Pushy graduate school has gotten in the way. Instead of trying to cover the lost time, I'll just say sorry to the blog and move on. The city is a crazy maze of one-way, curvy, confusing streets- sometimes with cobblestone. There's something called Pittsburguese or somethin' that means that there's a strange dialect here where people say "yinzes" instead of "y'all" and "redd up" for "clean/tidy up." En at. The Wide World: December 2009
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 17, 2009. One down. After an absurdly stressful week (in typical finals-week style panic) I submitted my first graduate school application! I can't count how many times I decided that I didn't actually want to go to graduate school because it would be much simpler to stop where I was than figure how to sidestep the obstacle. It will be much easier from here, I hope. I've learned so much, and this momentum should sustain itself. Interesting lessons revealed thus far:. 8 Do I really want...

The Wide World: November 2009
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 30, 2009. As is to be expected, I am working on my personal statement for the umpteenth time, now distracted while writing about travels in Europe. Let me out! Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Twenty-five seems like a good age. I hope it is. Sunday, November 8, 2009. The Wide World Calls, Faintly. Whenever I hear people talking about schoolwork, I think, Fuck, I don't want to do that again. I feel the world calling me again. Last year at this time, I was preparing for the trip to Costa Ri...

The Wide World: January 2010
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 31, 2010. Written 01/29/10, unable to post due to internet connection]. It was one of those hikes that only happens in Latin America. Sweaty, incredible. Today we went to the famed (infamous? I have that feeling again, where I've begun to fall in love with a city, and there's a small heartbreak when I leave. San Sebastian, Sarajevo, Leon, Dublin, Guanajuato. The trip is going too fast. Already, too many "next times". I must return. Friday, January 22, 2010. You boys like ME-XI-CO! This tr...

The Wide World: March 2010
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 22, 2010. When I learned that I had an entire (*gasp* entire. Gasp*) weekend off, Jamie and I immediately booked Amtrak tickets to Portland for us and the bikes. I hadn't been there in years, and had certainly never biked it, or navigated it myself. I love weekends and I love Portland. And trains. It's a small roastery. Their single-origin Ugandan espresso with hints of blueberry. No one plugged into a laptop. Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Names in a Hat. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Looking fo...

The Wide World: Everything is bigger in Texas
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2011/01/everything-is-bigger-in-texas.html
Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Everything is bigger in Texas. My new year's resolution is to write in this blog more consistently. Just kidding. Because, really, new year's resolutions? That's probably the best part.) Jamie keeps reminding me that graduate school is supposed to be fun. Hmmmmm. I have to say, acclimating to Pittsburgh helped me in Texas. Like a nice cultural pit stop between Seattle and Texas or something (pun intended). Happy Holidays and New Year! All the best,. January 5, 2011 at 3:05 PM.

The Wide World: July 2010
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 14, 2010. We stayed with Jamie's friend Alan in Fort Collins, where we spent the fourth of July with few fireworks due to thunderstorms and rain (the best way to spend that day, anyway). Next we went up into the mountains for an other-worldly experience at the Shambhala Buddhist Center. With the largest Stupa in North America. The event that brought us to Colorado! I finally met Jamie's friends from college, proof that he says who he says he is. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Looking for hap...

The Wide World: April 2010
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 30, 2010. I decided to go to the University of Pittsburgh because, why not? I received so much advice- mainly absurd and unsolicited. You know, like taking mushrooms and going on a vision quest or getting extremely drunk and going online, deciding, accepting. Which makes me wonder: is that how other people decide? Shit Is that what I should have done? I am so excited! Now it feels really real and I can begin to plan, hope, dream. So soon, my days of food service will be over! I mailed forms...

The Wide World: August 2010
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Every now and again I start to panic because. We leave in less than two weeks! I love that mountain. I grew up with a magnificent view half a block away from my parent's house in Olympia. I took it for granted until I moved to Extremadura where there is nothing of the sort. Pennsylvania? I don't know, but I think not. I keep thinking of things I want to do before I leave. I found out that Jamie had never been to the San Juan Islands! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Wide World: Dreaming of Pittsburgh
http://reinventionofamy.blogspot.com/2010/05/dreaming-of-pittsburgh.html
Tuesday, May 25, 2010. It's so close. My last day in food service ever. Is June 30, which means that the end is in sight which means that it seems farther away. Coincidentally, July 1 is when Awesome Summer begins, so I suppose I can hang on until then. Everything school-related is manifesting itself much better than anticipated. I've been placed in an internship at the Carnegie library. And this library has a swimming pool! May 26, 2010 at 11:14 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Amy blogs about In...
