An American Between Worlds: August 2008

http://anamericanbetweenworlds.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

An American Between Worlds. One mother's attempt to have it all. Tuesday, August 19, 2008. I grew up in the foothills of Northern California and have always had mixed feelings about the place. It is a small town and I grew up in a small house on 2 acres surrounded by oaks, manzanita, deer and silence. It had a way of making me feel claustrophobic at times. Isn't that me sitting in the sandbox under the swaying oak trees letting sand flow through my outstretched palms? Our world seems so simple here. ...

An American Between Worlds: January 2008

http://anamericanbetweenworlds.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

An American Between Worlds. One mother's attempt to have it all. Wednesday, January 9, 2008. That's Not My Poop. The other night I was exercising in my husband's office (the home of my beloved elliptical trainer) while my son Patrick was bouncing endlessly below me on a mattress left over from our recent family visits. A box of my husband's Physics papers falls from the mattress to the floor. Oooops! Where the heck did that word come from, I ask myself! He yells out. "Ewwww. It does not mean that! I rete...

An American Between Worlds. One mother's attempt to have it all. Monday, December 31, 2007. The holidays haven't always been a joyful time for my husband and myself. The ocean dividing family and friends in Germany and us in Seattle has been palpable at times - thick and all-consuming. And just because my family lives in California doesn't mean we see many of them more than once every few years! And did we mention that we have 50% off everything? Having so many family members together during the holidays...

An American Between Worlds: Deutsch, bitte!

http://anamericanbetweenworlds.blogspot.com/2008/05/deutsch-bitte.html

An American Between Worlds. One mother's attempt to have it all. Friday, May 16, 2008. Ahhh, those two magical words which have such power, such influence, such resonance. As I wrote in my last blog entry,. We have been entering a new phase in our household - an English phase. The language of choice for my children when playing has become English, English, English. (Luckily they are still speaking German with us.). In addition, my sons have been asking. No arguing, no fighting, no cajoling, no begging, n...

Tales from the Script: August 2012

Tales from the Script. My life is like a play. And you're reading the script :). Friday, August 17, 2012. We will resume our regularly scheduled programming. Someday. I still have this strange idea that at some point I will go back to blogging. At least somewhat regularly. Like every three months. That would be at least an improvement, right? All of them had their favorite events: Bubbs (almost 8 now! He reminded me of my older brother J. After pretty much every event, he announced that. PS - Please igno...

We’re Back! | The Local Dialect

https://thelocaldialect.wordpress.com/2010/08/10/were-back

August 10, 2010. After nearly a month on the road, we’re back in Beijing! Three train rides ended up being involved — one mammoth 45 hour trip from Beijing to Kunming, a shorter jaunt of 18 hours from Beijing to Guilin, and then a medium sized journey from Guilin back to Beijing. A few bus rides between Kunming and Yiliang and then again between Guilin and Yangshuo were also involved. Well it is extremely late here so I’m headed for bed, but just wanted to make a quick post first. Goodnight all! Get ever...

Tales from the Script: Update: the Bubbs

http://livethescript.blogspot.com/2012/02/update-bubbs.html

Tales from the Script. My life is like a play. And you're reading the script :). Thursday, February 23, 2012. THIS is the first of a series of updates I started but never posted. This one is actually from October, so I have much more I could share/say about the Bubbs since then. But if I wait to get everything perfect, I may never blog again. Which really could happen anyway. The whole never-blogging-again. So enjoy it while you can! A reading award, and the Kindergarten citizenship award. The Bubbs also...

Toughening Up | The Local Dialect

https://thelocaldialect.wordpress.com/2010/09/03/toughening-up

September 3, 2010. Young people into shape. Laquo; We’re Back! 8220;Lazy rich kids” — sounds like the students I taught during my first year in China. It was even worse for me, though, because they were college students, so grades were even more irrelevant to them. I’m glad your school wants to uphold higher standards in education — keep us posted on how things go! On September 3, 2010. So the new principal might be a good thing or is he trying to whip the teachers into shape too? On September 3, 2010.

Tales from the Script. My life is like a play. And you're reading the script :). Saturday, May 30, 2015. Baby #5 Story, Part I. This post has been in my drafts to post since March. Just saying.*. Yep You (the two people who may actually still check my blog) heard me. Obviously, I wouldn't be lying. It really does take having another baby to get to me to actually write a blog post! Because I love them all and they are better children than I deserve! Unlike our other babies, it took a while to get pregnant...

Tales from the Script: RIP (Gr)uncle Chuck

http://livethescript.blogspot.com/2011/04/rip-gruncle-chuck.html

Tales from the Script. My life is like a play. And you're reading the script :). Wednesday, April 13, 2011. My wonderful uncle passed away this morning. He suffered a stroke a few weeks ago and things just didn't go well from there. I had the opportunity to go visit him one last time in the hospital, to say my goodbyes and share my love with my aunt and cousin. He has meant so much to me, especially in the last eleven years when he became basically another dad to me. We love him and we will miss him!

Tales from the Script. My life is like a play. And you're reading the script :). Thursday, September 30, 2010. Wow I mean, really, wow. So I have a tendency to check a few news websites in the mornings. Because I can. Because I have the internet. Because I like to have a general idea of what is happening outside our little family/home, church, school, friends, neighborhood, city, metro area, country bubble. Today there was a headline "Fisher-Price Recalls More Than 10 Million Items". Um, say what? But ok...

Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Hello, I don't know if anyone reads this anymore, probably because I haven't posted in an extremely long period of time. Two things are certain though. An American Black Conservative. We are ALL thoughtful people with a voice…this is mine…. An American Black Conservative. It was to be expected. This has been an ongoing “issue” for years and only seems to be more prevalent as time advances and our seeming love of Country diminishes. It was to be expected that an “insider”….a Washington elite…was seen in flagrante delicto, or caught in the act. So why is her action so disturbing? A veteran’s honor. Veterans 28 Year Struggle with Rogue Law Enforcement

Veterans 28 Year Struggle with Rogue Law Enforcement. Monday, December 7, 2009. I have a story to tell. Over the course of the next few months return to this story on my blog. It all started in 1983 when this local police office that had a grudge against this man that had been in the navy seal program. The Seal was living in Nottingham apartments and one day came home to find that the local. The seal was upset so the police convinced the seal to talk to a doctor by the name of Dr. David Jefferson at.
