A Machine For Living: September 2009
http://amachineforliving.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
A Machine For Living. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek is best known for his intricately composed scrap wood furniture—each piece a one-of-a-kind creation that merges artisan handcraft with skilled design processes. But while his use of reclaimed materials has been widely recognized in the recent wave of sustainable design fandom, Eek has been working with scrap since well before the green boom (think 1990). Eek's designs are so unique and interesting - a true work of art.

A Machine For Living. Thursday, May 13, 2010. Never in my life did I think I would be blogging about carpet, but times sure have changed. Austrian design company Florian Pucher recently released Landcarpet. Carpets come in the style of aerial photo maps. They currently have layouts for Europe, USA, Netherlands, and Africa. A Machine For Living: April 2009
http://amachineforliving.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
A Machine For Living. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Every drive by a modern house in Minneapolis/St. Paul with AMAZING landspace design and wonder who created such beauty? Well the answer is probably rosenlof/lucas. Matt Olson and Mike Brady, two minneapolis artist/designers who were losing touch with day jobs in the advertising industry founded rosenlof/lucas. Saturday, April 25, 2009. Industrial on the outside, classy on the inside. I fucking love it! Thursday, April 23, 2009. Rething The Way We Sit At Work.

A Machine For Living: Skybox House
http://amachineforliving.blogspot.com/2010/05/skybox-house.html
A Machine For Living. Thursday, May 13, 2010. This little beauty was created by Primus Architecture. The house sits on a partly wooded lot on the coast north of Zealand, Denmark. The main focus of Primus was to "add spatiality and experience of light." It gets its name "Skybox" from the many box-like sky lights throughout the space, giving it light and air. Large sliding doors really allow the house to become one with its site. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). An Art For Living. My Time As A Lion.

A Machine For Living: Desert House
http://amachineforliving.blogspot.com/2010/06/desert-house.html
A Machine For Living. Friday, June 18, 2010. Welcome to the Desert House, located in Paradise Valley, Arizona. This modern desert oasis was designed by Marwan Al Sayed Architects, Ltd. This house truly shows paradise can exist in even the driest of climates. Large expanses of glass really help to break out the concrete exterior, while providing amazing views of Squaw Peak Mountain Reserve and the Arizona Canal. The neutral color of the concrete helps the house to really blend with its desert site.

A Machine For Living: January 2010
http://amachineforliving.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
A Machine For Living. Sunday, January 3, 2010. Infiniski is one of those groups that I would kill to be a part of. They've been on top of the sustainable architecture game for almost a century, and all of their work is so bad ass. Not only are their designs sustainable, they are also modular and versatile, meaning you can change them and add square footage to them as needed. I'll show you my favorite of their designs below. I love the connection to the land this house has. Everything from the site to...

A Machine For Living: February 2010
http://amachineforliving.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
A Machine For Living. Wednesday, February 3, 2010. I'm always searching for cool and new ways to recycle everyday objects, such as newspapers. I have now found an amazing solution to your stack of NYT: Newspaper Yarn! Greetje van Tiem is now famous for her “Indruk” project (she can purportedly spins 20yds of “yarn” from a sheet of old newspaper). Newspaper yarn is very versatile and can be used for many things including curtains, rugs, even upholstery! So how can YOU make your very own Newspaper yarn?
