8220;Nazzaro’s watercolors are exactly traditional; that is, they evoke for us the long and much-loved history of the form. My recent still lifes (2012) represent a different direction, if not a new departure. The aesthetic arrangement of common household objects with flowers has provided a context for the brightening of my palette and a bold exploration of fully saturated color. In my monotypes, I strive to invent a self-contained world in which colors, shapes, textures, and movement exist in their own right, with no conscious reference to anything outside. I walk the fine line between fostering spontaneity in the design while remaining mindful of aesthetic demands. Inventing an original visual world is analagous to the composer’s creation of a new sound world. Posted February 8, 2014 by tbonebassman. Original Watercolors and Monotypes.
