Anchorage Life Learners: December 2010
http://anchoragelifelearners.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 7, 2010. It took me a long while, but I got our playroom organized (finally). We now have a better rhythm around here. We have all been spending more time in the play/learning room and Oliver has started asking me to teach him. He wants me to get stuff out of my boxes of teaching supplies. I put up a pocket chart with some beginning reading stories. Meanwhile, Benton was painting, his favorite thing, ever. Here is a video of Oliver reading his story, "My Favorite Foods," and a hello to ...

Anchorage Life Learners: Making room
http://anchoragelifelearners.blogspot.com/2012/03/making-room.html
Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Two weeks ago, I went through 3 large storage tubs of my teaching stuff. I had already gone through it before we moved to Alaska, there was more like 10 or so boxes then, What was left, was the stuff I thought of as the really good. Kids, might actually do. I ended up with one organized filing cabinet and 2 large garbage bags. I popped into Dan's office for a little encouragement. He said exactly what I needed to hear. Something along the lines of "You are making room, bot...Right...

Reflections From Home: Mercy in the Little Things
http://christabellesplace.blogspot.com/2014/06/mercy-in-little-things.html
Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Mercy in the Little Things. A few weeks ago my tooth began hurting like crazy. I realized that my cavity I had ignored had only become worse and I needed to take care of it. There is something intimidating about trying to find dental care in a foreign country! But I prayed, leaving it in God's hands. Then approached a Hungarian friend whom I knew would have a recommendation on a dentist. Lo, and behold, she was going to the dentist herself the following week! Then, an even great...

Reflections From Home: "Tis He and He Alone
http://christabellesplace.blogspot.com/2012/02/tis-he-and-he-alone.html
Saturday, February 04, 2012. Tis He and He Alone. When my water broke, there was a doula ten minutes away willing to take me to the hospital. I already had my chart and all my paperwork from my midwife at home. I already had a list of care providers that I might like from my ICAN group. There were good friends willing to watch my kids so my husband could come to me. My nurse was willing to suggest I consider my right to the doctor I wanted. My whole family was here when I requested transfer of care.

Anchorage Life Learners: I never quite fit in
http://anchoragelifelearners.blogspot.com/2011/05/i-never-quite-fit-in.html
Friday, May 6, 2011. I never quite fit in. You can do this and everyone will turn out fine." Thankfully, the presenter kind of said that, but I am not sure the person who asked the question was satisfied. July 25, 2011 at 2:55 PM. My kids want to do everything I do, their curiosity about the world doesnt magically disappear when they hit elementary school age! Theres just so much fear that they arent going to turn out okay or were going to miss something! That we forget the basics of learning together an...
