ANDAR works through native people of Nepal, helping them to carry our their own small projects for improving the lives of their fellow countrymen. On the one hand rain brings life to the earth. Now is the time to plant rice. In four months it will be ready to harvest. Rice is the staple food. After that other crops can be planted. Visiting a Nepalese Home. But there will be hot water. It comes from a tank on the roof and a solar panel. The temperature of the water depends on the sun, and on how many people are using the water. The tank is not insulated. The water is very hot in the afternoon and quite cold in the morning. But it is cheap. A public wash place in a Kathmandu suburb makes use of a natural spring. Heavy rain during the second week of august in the southern part of West Nepal caused rivers to flood, bringing rushing water and mudslides. There was extensive damage to houses.
