Adventures from the Rez and Beyond. House progress and Visitors. Let's see where I left off. The fascia got built out:. Waterproofing/roof underlayment going on:. Then we had friends Dustin, Agnes and 2 y.o. Bianca visiting, and we did some fun touring! And then Bear Country USA! And we've got windows and doors on the house! And Marlin had a fun birthday. Pics from all that to come! Exterior walls done.and a roof! Luckily things dry out quickly here, otherwise I'd really be worried about trapped moisture.

For the roof, we always knew we wanted metal- it's more expensive but much longer lasting (like, forever) than shingles and it's much more fire safe, which is a legitimate concern, considering it's our primary natural disaster threat. These storm-cloudy skies were kind of the color we were after. The electrician and ...

Adventures from the Rez and Beyond. Lots to do before baby! Life's feeling a little busy.feels like I'm rushing to beat a deadline.a deadline that isn't fixed: baby could come any day now! My official due date is next Monday, October 6th, so I'm in that zone where it could happen any day now, but I'm hoping baby stays in at least a few more! But now baby's going to be here any minute and I'd rather not be thinking about all this when I'm sleep deprived and adjusting to having #2 in the house! Besides the...

Adventures from the Rez and Beyond. How NOT to build a house. You've been waiting eagerly for more pictures haven't you? For a minute, I'll leave you hanging on the foreshadowing from the title of this post while I catch you up a bit. Just before we left, the excavator had finished digging, had built a bit of a road around where the house will go to improve access while building; and had dug out for the concrete footings:. Now it's wider, more even and has the first layer of gravel:. It was a bit of a ro...
