In 2006 we cleared, stumped, and prepared our vineyard area for planting. The land is gently sloping to the west-southwest and generally consists of glacial till soil. We built an eight-foot deer fence around the entire vineyard area. Some of the land was kept for Chrismas trees and future orchard. Grapevine cuttings obtained from other vineyards were prepared and rooted in garden area of previous home. All of our vines are own-rooted. Later, some vines came from a nursery.
