The Haunted Closet: Rerun: How I Missed The Hobbit
http://the-haunted-closet.blogspot.com/2012/12/rerun-how-i-missed-hobbit.html
Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Rerun: How I Missed The Hobbit. In celebration of the long awaited release of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. To theaters, I thought I'd repost my poem recounting an episode from childhood, in which I missed seeing the second half of Rankin Bass'. Animated adaptation when it aired on television in the late 70s, as punishment by my parents for refusing to finish my dinner. The tragic episode is rendered in picture and verse reminiscent of those Victorian-era. So give me a break!

Saturday, January 11, 2014. Montgomery and Morgue Mail-Order Catalog (Cracked Magazine, Feb. 1982). In the spirit of Norman Bridwell's. From the Shriek Shop Dept. of Cracked Magazine's Feb. 1982 edition (one of their special "Monster" focused issues), here's Montgomery and Morgue's (it's like Montgomery Wards. but funny! Monsters-only catalog of mail-order mirth. I'm guessing that third "witch doctor" is some TV-show doctor character (isn't that the CBS eye on his forhead? But I can't place him. Leave It...

Monday, August 1, 2011. 1984 A.D: Battlecar-Warriors of the Lost Wasteland. The year was 1984, A.D., towards the end of the Videotape Format War. And after the fall of Kajagoogoo. Three powerful forces were about to converge that would transform my world. (It wasn't quite the Great Conjunction. From The Dark Crystal. But like that universe-changing triple-solar eclipse foretold by village elders, it could not have been mere coincidence.). It was the year when the following happened:. Of course, being rat...

Monday, October 6, 2008. The Flying Sorceress (1956). One of my favorite Tom and Jerry cartoons also happens to be perfect for Halloween. "The Flying Sorceress" (1956). Tom answers a classified ad for an old woman seeking a cat. Of course the old woman turns out to be a witch. Check out some of these gorgeous screen caps:. Tom tires of constant chores in this suburban palace. The old lady's home stands in a perpetual thunderstorm! Tom's new bed. Yikes. Tom steals the witch's broom. I love your blog :).

The Haunted Closet: Hard Time at Disneyland
http://the-haunted-closet.blogspot.com/2015/03/hard-times-at-disneyland.html
Friday, March 20, 2015. Hard Time at Disneyland. No, I'm not talking about the Pressler Era. I'm talking about Hard Time On Planet Earth. A short-lived science fiction TV. Show from Touchstone Television. That lasted only 13 episodes. The year is 1989. Joining "Jesse" (that's the Earth name Kove's character adopts) throughout his sentence is "Control", a floating football-shaped robot whose voice resembles Paul Reuben. The actual voice actor is Danny Mann. We're going to need a lot of these, right? The w...

Told in rhyming verses written by Janet Borroway. Has a bit of an identity problem. It seems to think it is a whimsical fantasy, in which the townspeople of a little storybook village come together to cook up (literally! A cute solution for a wasp problem that is menacing them from above. As they attack picnickers. The whole episode serv...
