There and back again. A Grüntenworks tale by Daniel-. Sunday, April 19, 2009. It's still the summer holidays and for the next 2 weeks I will be going to a different temple - this time not to teach, but to learn more about Buddhism and above all, meditating a lot. The temple is west of Bangkok and many foreigners go there to practise meditation. I will also live according to the eight precepts, so I won't be eating anything after 12:00 until sunrise for example. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

I have been in Thailand now for half a year, which means that 2/3 of my stay is over, and that I need to renew my Visa again. I will be going to Cambodia this time: On Wednesday, me and Rahel will set off towards Siam Reap- where the spectacular Angkor Wat temples are! I am looking forward to seeing these "Pyramids of Asia" very much. Earths closest neighbours , the moon and Venus). It won't be quite the same without her. Today ...

There and back again. A Grüntenworks tale by Daniel-. Monday, March 30, 2009. The 2 month summer holidays have now started in Thailand, and so most of the novices are going back to their hometowns to see their families again. But about 20 students have to stay for 3 weeks before they can go, because they were caught breaking a rule. Some of them were playing football, fighting or smoking, all of which is of course against buddhist precepts. Here are some pictures from the end of year ceremony at Watbod:.

There and back again. A Grüntenworks tale by Daniel-. Friday, November 28, 2008. Laos and Bangkok dangerous. Well first of all let me reassure everyone that here in Inburi everything's fine. I'm safe and sound and wouldn't even know about the situation in Bangkok if it weren't for the Internet. Sunday, November 23, 2008. After being here already for almost 3 months, it was about time to have a look at the capital! It’s only 2,5 hours away by bus, which makes it an ideal weekend trip. Some silk art inside:.

There and back again. A Grüntenworks tale by Daniel-. Wednesday, February 18, 2009. I have noticed that your're not writing as many comments as you used to! This is a shame, since I appreciate them very much - I promise to write an interesting post right now (so don't you dare not write a comment! Another month has passed and my daily life hasn't changed much - except that Alisa and me teach a bit more now, because we are offering extra classes for the best Thai students as well as the Nepalese. Quite of...

There and back again. A Grüntenworks tale by Daniel-. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Hello everyone, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! And I can use all the teaching material and ideas I had already given up on because they were much too difficult for the Thai students! They are also happy to get extra lessons and motivated so that's a really good new development. I'll report back next week about that (I hope). Anyway, have a great NEW YEAR 2009 everybody! Friday, December 12, 2008. At 6 o'clock in the morning we cro...

There and back again. A Grüntenworks tale by Daniel-. Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Every school had a stand where they presented something; this was ours:. All the teachers of Watbot Inburi: 3 monks, 6 laymen/women and 3 farang! We're wearing our new teacher outfit. Another discipline of the competition was English: The novices had prepared beforehand a talk about topics like climate change, Unity, and Morality (they had to connect these to the teachings of Buddha) and then they had to talk for 10 minutes ...

http://gruentenworks-thailand.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
There and back again. A Grüntenworks tale by Daniel-. Thursday, October 23, 2008. Last week the headmaster of my school told me that he and 3 other monks from Inburi were going to a temple school conference near Chiang Mai aaaaand, that I could come too! An unexpected and great opportunity to see the second largest city of Thailand, the "northern capital" : ) ). Same goes for alcohol:. I bought a lamp and a picture frame, probably at much too high prices -I'm still no good at bargaining- and headed back ...
