Path to Acacia | Our Wall

The McGowan Family's Adventures, from A to Z. Path to Acacia came to mean a lot of things over the past two years. Most literally, it was what we dubbed the span of time that it took to have our second daughter, Acacia, join our family. That path wound us through:. I always knew inside of me that I wanted to adopt. Patrick did too. But what did that feeling inside of us look like on the outside? Were we ready to go from being a family of three to a family of four? In the middle of the process, Ethiopia u...

How one can go from a very comfortable-seeming life, to almost nothing to her name. Thankfully, they got out just fine. For shock value, here’s what they found when they were finally allowed to return home. Until it happens. To a friend. To family. To me. To you. The Diane and Kitty Paton Fund. Beautifully writt...

Our life as a family of four. Saturday, December 6, 2014. A few weeks ago we went to Hart Tree Farm in Rockford to cut down our Christmas tree. It was cold and snowy and the perfect winter wonderland. We've been looking forward to this since our days in Raleigh and we weren't disappointed! Thankful for moments like these…. life as WE know it: September 2010
http://johnandleahbaldauff.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Life as WE know it. Wednesday, September 1, 2010. John's dear grandfather [Pap] has passed away. John left for Pittsburgh early Tuesday morning, and I have lost my gumption without him here [although I do get more work done]. The funeral will be Saturday, so I plan to fly out there Friday evening. Although we are glad Pap doesn't have to live with dementia anymore, death is certainly never easy to swallow. I must’ve seen a good ten different articles this week about the fact it’s a problem that Americans are spending too much time behind screens. How it’s terrible that we live virtually through social media and video games. How it’s detrimental to our socialization when we hide behind our phones. So what do we do about it?
