I really, truly appreciate it :). He's very creative/artsy. likes to draw, paint, take pictures, etc. Favorite color is purple. Here's my initial sketch.

Cakes in a Cup by Cindy: July 2011
http://cindyscakesinacup.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. This MINI cake was for an old high school friend's Anniversary. She wanted to make sure the cake was "for both of them. not just a typical 'Happy Anniversary' cake" (LOL). The first thing she said was. "we're totally different. He likes to fish and I like to get my nails done and shop". * side note *. That sounds like every other married couple I know. opposites really do attract :). His half was a "gone fishin" theme. It was a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream. YUMMY :).

Monday, November 7, 2011. Halloween has just recently climbed to the tippie-top of my favorite holiday list :). I had so much FUN prepping for my little "Monster Mash"! So many things to do and bake, so little time (LOL). First of all, I have to say I LOVE Target! They ALWAYS have the best selection of party decor. I picked up these goodie bags from the 99cent section. I also purchased these vampire fangs at Target. They made for some GREAT vampire napkin rings. I LOVE the way they turned out! To place a...

Friday, September 30, 2011. Toy Story 2nd Birthday. My son is in LOVE with Toy Story and he doesn't discriminate. he LOVES parts 1, 2, and 3. You might even say he eats, drinks, and sleeps Tee-dory (that's how he pronounces it. LOL). Those movies are ALWAYS playing! His birthday is in August so the party was supposed to take place in our backyard BUT b/c of inclement weather (AKA "Hurricane Irene"), we had to move everything inside. Take a look at the decor. From left to right. Here are some close-ups.

Cakes in a Cup by Cindy: February 2011
http://cindyscakesinacup.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 25, 2011. My 1st stacked cake. I FINALLY took a "Tall Cakes" class! I've been waiting for this class for what seems like FOREVER! In this class we learned the "proper" way to cover and stack fondant cakes. In the end, we ended up with a plain stacked cake. an empty canvas (if you will). There were so many design concepts to choose from. what to do, what to do? But in the end, I ended up with this really pretty pale pink cake with black trim adorned with really feminie "ruffled flowers".

The label looked GREAT! Here's a close-up of the limes. Cause everyone knows, you can't have tequila shots without limes (LOL). The cake was chocolate with a chocolate mousse and fresh strawberry filling. YUMMY! To place an order or for additional information contact. Posted by "Cakes in a Cup" by Cindy. P is for Party.

Monday, March 28, 2011. Dia de los Muertos" ["Day of the Dead"]. I was hired to make a traditional Dominican cake with a modern twist. The theme was "Dia de los Muertos". FYI a traditional Domican cake is covered and decorated with suspiro. which is super yummy but definitely NOT the easiest of things to work with (lol). Dominican cake with dulce de leche filling and suspiro frosting. yummy :). I really enjoyed making this cake. and I can't wait to perfect my suspiro skills (lol). Links to this post.

Okay back to the cake (LOL). It's a small quilted makeup bag surrounded by a few "M.A.C" beauty essentials. A set of eye shadows, a pair of faux eyelashes, mascara, and lipstick. Here's a close-up of the eyelashes. I LOVED the way the name tag came out. esp with the coral lipstick laying on top of it!
