Andrea Lowe Photography blog: Treelines
http://alowephotos.blogspot.com/2015/03/treelines.html
Andrea Lowe Photography blog. Thursday, March 05, 2015. I'm hardly the first to think that trees can be at their best in winter. They show a side of themselves that is impossible to see any other time of the year, when leaves or blossoms dominate. Branch shapes are revealed and shadows form artistic patterns. On the west coast, trees are heavy with fluorescent moss and lichen drapes from every limb in our rainforests. Chestnut trees at Jericho Beach in Vancouver. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Andrea Lowe Photography blog: December 2012
http://alowephotos.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Andrea Lowe Photography blog. Monday, December 31, 2012. Stanley Park, Vancouver. Whenever I get too discouraged about Vancouver winters I remind myself that at least there’s fog. And if you’ve got a camera, and you’re dressed for dampness, and you don't mind getting up and being outside as the sun is coming up, there’s joy to be found in the gloom of the southern B.C. coast. Burrard St. Bridge, Vancouver. A proverbial blanket of fog along the east side of the Saanich Peninsula, near Victor ia. I’m...

Andrea Lowe Photography blog. Saturday, March 22, 2014. Highway 58 a four-lane highway that runs directly east from Bakersfield, California. It looked to be a transition region from farmland to desert. I thought it would be a quieter and more interesting route to the southern U.S. than staying on the I-5 and negotiating the steep elevation changes at San Bernardino. One year I turned off 58 onto secondary route 232 at the Arvin township marker, just to see what I could see, and was rewarded with more sim...

Andrea Lowe Photography blog: Closed For the Season: PNE
http://alowephotos.blogspot.com/2014/11/closed-for-season-pne.html
Andrea Lowe Photography blog. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Closed For the Season: PNE. Even as a child I liked to spend time anywhere that was closed or left derelict: the school yard closed for the weekend or the summer, a building site abandoned on a Sunday, the grounds of a sports stadium in the off season. I have to be satisfied with what I can see from a distance or with my camera pressed through a chain-link fence. The Exhibition entrance offers intricate shadows but nothing more until next summer.

Andrea Lowe Photography blog: December 2013
http://alowephotos.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Andrea Lowe Photography blog. Sunday, December 29, 2013. I know from experience that I can find subjects to photograph just about anywhere I go, and Ajo was no exception. By going to the old town section at sunrise, deserted at that time of day, I found what I was looking for: shadows, colours, patterns. The low winter light never disappoints. Andrea Lowe Photography blog. Thursday, July 23, 2015. Even if you're not crazy for tomatoes, you have to admit they're very photogenic. In the neighbourhood garden. Window ripening and blue glass. THERE IS PLENTY TO SEE IN THE VISUAL HONESTY OF MY SURROUNDINGS. I HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY WHAT I FIND. MORE ABOUT MY PHOTOGRAPHY? Use or download without permission.

http://alowephotos.blogspot.com/2015/01/beyond-cactus-anza-borrego-desert.html
Andrea Lowe Photography blog. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Beyond Cactus: the Anza-Borrego. I discovered the Borrego desert in southern California by accident. I was on my way to Arizona, which seemed a more suitable place to travel during the winter, but wanted to meet up with someone I knew from San Diego first. But I didn't leave for a month, and I returned there over the next few years to photograph the desert and the Santa Rosa mountains that seemed to change with every change of light. Winter winds;...
