Just some reflections along the journey. Sunday, September 1, 2013. Every time I get on here to write a new post, I'm astonished at the date of my last post. Has it really been that long! Sometimes when I begin creating I will also encounter words that accompany the image. This time I came across a passage from St. Catherine of Sienna-. What is nourishing you these days? How are you connecting to the source of Life? What gifts are you called to release as offerings into your world? Visit my photo blog:.

Just some reflections along the journey. Saturday, June 30, 2012. A Feast of Soul Words (and a bit of an update). So, it seems my blogging has returned from the dead, or at least a very long sleep. These last months have been full, so full that blogging was placed even farther on the back burner. Here is a bit of what I've been up to the last few weeks-. A turning point such as graduation has a way of inspiring reflections not just on what. I've learned over the last four years, but how. I'd like to give...

Just some reflections along the journey. Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Children's Mental Wellness: How to help. This is Mental Illness Awareness Week, so in honor of the children and families I work with, I am offering a few thoughts on what children need to be mentally well. Hopefully we can all think a little better about how to help children experiencing mental illness (and their families too! Heal and live into wellness. 1 Take care of yourself. And What do I need? 3 Take deep breaths. We also work on ...

Just some reflections along the journey. Sunday, September 16, 2012. Being Created Always, Always. This weekend I visited The Hermitage. For an overnight retreat. (Side note- If you live in the northern Indiana/Michigan area, I highly recommend visiting. It's a wonderful space to get away and slow down.). And me. I am a part of this creation too, joining the cycle of birth and death and re-birth. What am I being invited to release, and what might I need to hold close for a while longer? And rise, and.

Just some reflections along the journey. Monday, September 30, 2013. Whines. Who knew moving a couple blocks down the street could be so unsettling! We all have thresholds to cross- the transitions of a new job, home, role, family, age. The disorientation of loss and grief. The unsettling of questions, doubt, shifting paradigms breaking the known and comfortable. Perhaps life is really a perpetual crossing of thresholds. What is the threshold that you see before you? What does it ask of you? Be doing....

Just some reflections along the journey. Saturday, November 19, 2011. Creating: Entering into Mystery, Giving voice to my soul. Thou who created the world. With a word,. When I am hungering. For a language I have not found,. When I am thirsting. For phrases yet to be born,. When the words I have heard. Turn to ash in my ear. And what I have uttered. Becomes dust in my mouth,. That will create the world again. Jan Richardson, In Wisdom's Path. Why am I reaching again for the brushes? At my senses' horizon.

Just some reflections along the journey. Sunday, September 25, 2011. In the midst of overwhelming noise and distraction, the voice of story is calling us to remember our true selves. Story opens up a space between people that is unbound from the reality we are standing in. Story is both the great revealer and concealer. There is the story of what gets said, and the story of what remains unsaid." -Christina Baldwin, Storycatcher. How often do we tell stories? How do I tell my own stories? Two or three thi...

Just some reflections along the journey. Saturday, December 15, 2012. Here we are, again, in the midst of Advent- a season of hope, anticipation, light. Yet, this year, it feels more like the dark struggles of Lent than a joyful celebration of Jesus' birth. In the midst of such heavy violence and death, illness, brokenness, and just plain struggle, it is hard to find the hope or see the light of Advent. Recently I have been using. The Anabaptist prayer book, Take Our Moments and Our Days. And it is holy.

Just some reflections along the journey. Sunday, October 16, 2011. Being Messy: Being Community. What does it mean to be in community? What does it mean to be Christians with other Christians, or Christians in the various contexts we find ourselves? Do we really want. To be in community? Especially in American culture, we spend most of our lives perfecting ourselves. We must be strong. We must succeed. We cannot break down. We smile just enough to hide the depression and anxiety that chok...As we pass ea...
