http://heavenlymonkeybooks.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-secret-stack.html
Day late and a dollar short; here's what I got. Having trouble with the news feed for Decorating Paper. Just found out that a Web site. An aside for readers who followed the Agrippa. Heavenly Monkey: Damping & Drying Paper at HM
http://heavenlymonkeybooks.blogspot.com/2015/07/damping-drying-paper-at-hm.html
Damping and Drying Paper at HM. HM hasn't previously used either of the two papers we'll be printing on for XI LXIVmos. Somerset Book 115g (the white sheet above), and a very light (80 g? F J Head laid (the cream sheet) that looks and feels like it was calendared. I didn't know how either paper would react when dampened, so I did a small test last week. I have a larger set of boards and plexi for the very odd project that exceeds these dimensions.). The boards are left in a stack, placed in a humidor (i&...

Heavenly Monkey: New Limits Imposed
http://heavenlymonkeybooks.blogspot.com/2015/07/new-limits-imposed.html
Sorry kids, I don't have time for much this week. Well into XI LXIVmos. That's the first run above, stacked beside the pulp boards used to dry the sheets. I'm pulling 160 impressions a day, which is outrageous by HM standards. Takes 12 hours, without any hassles thrown in. New top limit forever and always: 100 pulls. Even that's too much. Scheduled to be finished by this time next week, or die trying. Publisher of elusive books. This blog is updated (almost) every Monday. Buy Harold Budd books.

Heavenly Monkey: Kickstart Your Paper Collection
http://heavenlymonkeybooks.blogspot.com/2015/06/kickstart-your-paper-collection.html
Kickstart Your Paper Collection. For all you decorated paper enthusiasts, item #1 from bookseller Barry McKay's latest catalogue:. ANTIQUE PASTE PAPERS FROM THE RHINELAND PALATINATE. The patterns found on these papers fall into four, very broadly classified, types: a sprinkled pattern, a simple dabbed- brush pattern, a paste and pull pattern, and a paste and pull pattern further ornamented with a circular patter thereon. The latter pattern is one that, based on our own experience, is achieved by dabb...

Heavenly Monkey: Didn't Die Trying
http://heavenlymonkeybooks.blogspot.com/2015/08/didnt-die-trying.html
Is done. At least all the heavy lifting (for me: Francesca Lohmann has a month of calligraphy now, and then Sarah Creighton has a few months of binding, but that's all their problem). That's a collated deluxe copy above. Today I'm getting these deluxe sheets ready to send to Francesca, who will add the title calligraphically to each copy, and number the edition (I-XXXV). Most samples are just a little smaller than the bibliography's page, and can simply be sewn in with the signatures, but the Gorey pages...

Heavenly Monkey: November 2014
http://heavenlymonkeybooks.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Gazing Down, Listening to Sea Island. Crazy week. Got a good topic for next week's post, but meanwhile, a few placeholders. Found that image above on a neighborhood sidewalk. Heard about this place. In, of all place, Ontario. Need to find out more. (The presses look a bit too pretty.). Is out and it's brilliant. Another high for existing fans, a great point of entry for new ones. Everyone buy a copy. Coming up next week:. Is this a technical distinction? It was printed by David Clifford at Black Stone Pr...

Heavenly Monkey: Covering Up
http://heavenlymonkeybooks.blogspot.com/2015/07/covering-up.html
Gearing up to start a new project. The Washington is still settling into its new home and seems a little stiff - the bed doesn't slide the way it used to. Hopefully that's just a matter of getting things moving again. Please note that the following basically is the method described in Gabriel Rummonds' excellent Printing on the Iron Handpress. Any discrepancies are my fault. His book should always be your first and best resource for information about printing.). Once the frame is as clean as possible, yo...
