Dracula (1931) Reviewed | Burgess Blog

https://andrewdavidburgess.wordpress.com/2009/09/15/dracula-1931-reviewed

Fall tour of classic Universal Monster movies. A quick plot summary (in case you didn’t already know):. A businessman named Renfield ( Dwight Frye. Travels to the Transylvania castle of Count Dracula ( Béla Lugosi. And her pesky, nosy fiancé John Harker ( David Manners. When Mina starts having bad dreams, her family solicits the help of Dr. Van Helsing ( Edward Van Sloan. To push the audience over the edge. Dwight Frye as Renfield. One aspect that of the film that I did find particularly disturbing (and ...

Here are a few poems. These were selected as finalists in the 2007. Poetry contest. Consider this an early experiment with posting poetry here; this page is bound to change around a bit. This is after I forgot to check the oil for months. And the engine locked up. The car, nothing. But a deserted anthill. Sleep is the tiger whose stripes. Match perfectly the dry and cracking grass blades of the savannah. This is after I threw the desk chair across our bedroom and watched,. Terrified, as it bounced once.

Fiction | Burgess Blog

https://andrewdavidburgess.wordpress.com/fiction

Here’s a short story I wrote in my first fiction technique class. If you’ve got the patience to read it in this format, go ahead; let me know what you think. I’d like to investigate ways to cut it up into more manageable pages, though. Maybe I’ll add some illustrations, too…. Empty Sky, Selfless Love. The most stressful part of the evening should have come to an end as Sal’s wife Mary cleared the plates from the table and told the boys–how cute, that’s what she called them, not the. He wanted to ask Sal.

New home for my ramblings and wanderings. I found Carl Laemmle. 8216;s 1931 production of Frankenstein. To be considerably more unsettling than I expected. In fact, before the film even begins, Edward Van Sloan. Boris Karloff as The Monster. A quick plot summary:. The film opens with Dr. Henry Frankenstein ( Colin Clive. And his hunchback assistant Fritz (a once again terrific Dwight Frye. Who continually pesters him at his secluded tower laboratory. Frankenstein’s Monster ( Boris Karloff. Is brought to ...

John Reich reviews our show at Floyd’s: “These guys will catch other groups off guard” | Dead Letters Blog

https://deadlettersblog.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/john-reich-reviews-our-show-at-floyds-these-guys-will-catch-other-groups-off-guard

John Reich reviews our show at Floyd’s: “These guys will catch other groups off guard”. August 11, 2009. John “Ozzy” Reich. Is a man on a mission. He carries a mantle that nobody important seems to care about. Reich has taken it upon himself to go to local shows, to review local bands, and to give the Tallahassee music scene the non-biased kind of rock-and-roll journalism it needs. Reich’s primary research tool is MySpace, and he posts reviews on his personal page here. You can read the full review here.

When Andrew Burgess sits down to write a song, he keeps three principles gleaned from Hemingway in mind:. Andrew’s been playing guitar and singing for 11 years in various incarnations. You can hear some of his solo stuff here. His favorite season is Fall; his favorite movie is. His favorite beer is PBR. He kind of maintains an amateur photography blog, [view:/ finder]. And is an avid travel enthusiast. He’s planning to spend some time in Vegas this fall, if you’d like to come along. Justin de la Cruz:.

House Party! | Dead Letters Blog

September 2, 2009. We were practicing at Matt’s house for our Engine Room show. When there came suddenly a steady rapping at the front door. Two girls entered. But only one left. Okay, that’s not true. But what. Undone (The Sweater Song) (Weezer). I Wanna Be Sedated (The Ramones). Louie Louie (The Kingsmen). Whatever You Like (T.I.). Paper Planes (M.I.A.). Our originals and our cover songs all got a great response, so I suppose we’re now Tallahassee’s #1 party band. Drop us a line if you ...Error: Twitte...

Show Report: Saturday, August 8th, Floyd’s Music Store. August 10, 2009. Dateline, Saturday night:. We blew the roof off of Floyd’s Music Store in our most hard-hitting performance to date. Thanks a lot to everyone who came out, to the other bands, and to Floyd’s for having us. We went first in the lineup, and got the crowd moving. Here’s what we played:. Cracks in the Pavement. The Uncut Hair of Graves. Don’t Start Me Down This Road. This is the End. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

The Facts | Dead Letters Blog

https://deadlettersblog.wordpress.com/about

Started in the Fall of 2008 from the fallout of Tallahasse, FL band, Bombardiers. Guitarist Burgess, lead guitarist de la Cruz, and drummer Littlefield. The three spent months tossing around hooks and grooves, meshing seemingly diverse styles into something that can be almost adequately described as nineties-alternative-meets-2000’s-indie-rock. The band’s influences include such diverse groups as The Pixies. And 50’s sockhop revivalists Jonny Rockit and the Blastoffs. What Are We Doing?

Short stories by Andrew david vine. August 18, 2016. Sitting at the smoking area at Gatwick you really see the sights, hundreds of people coming and going to and from flights. Men women and children rushing too and fro, where they are going i really don’t know. Some are bored, some are happy, some are having fun being pushed around on a luggage trolley. Everybody is going somewhere, to a flight or from a flight, happy to be going on holiday or happy to be going home. April 6, 2016. August 16, 2015. I som...
