A blog about squatting and the law. Convictions and Richard Madeley. 28 November, 2012. Two men (one absent) were convicted of the new offence for squatting a pub in Romford Market at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court. From this article in the Romford Recorder. It would appear that they would not have been found guilty if they had stayed withing the boundaries of the pub and that the conviction was based on evidence of their presence in the flat upstairs. With 2 more from the same flat awaiting sentencing.
