My dad is from Scotland and my mom is a Dene, originally from northern Saskatchewan, but was raised in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. My only living grandma (95) is Dene, and she speaks Denesuline. After a bad fall a couple of years ago, she was moved to an extended care facility in Fort McMurray, Alberta. I am fortunate to visit her occasionally! In 2010/2014 we went to Hawaii. Instead of receiving gifts for myself I made a request for new books which will go to building the library of an isolated Canadian First Nation School.
