And then there was kels. Sunday, July 8, 2012. Hola friends. So this weekend was the last full weekend I have here with all of my other volunteers, so we tried to make the most of it. And then there was kels. Monday, July 9, 2012. Today at school was a wonderful surprise for all the students. I showed up with my roommate, who had been working at the hospital, and along with Molly, the three of us were able to begin a series of teaching hygiene lessons in a mix of English/Spanish. This one celebrating some Saint's day that occurs 9 days after Inti Raymi. Every school in the city has a virgin or a saint assigned as their patron, and that school has to have a special celebration in honor of their patron. And then there was kels. Monday, July 16, 2012. Day 2 of being a tourist. Being a tourist in this city is a lot different than trying to live here. For one, I don't really have to use Spanish as much. Makes my life easier, but I'm not practicing as much Spanish anymore. And then there was kels. Tuesday, July 10, 2012. 4 classes done, 8 to go. Another wonderful day at school today! I'm now completely done with my first and second graders here, which is a little saddening. But the kids are very receptive to the health lessons, and love getting free stuff. After school, we went to do a little more shopping around town (I feel like that's all I do. but it takes a while to find all the really good deals! Fresh veggies, and fruit salad. It was super delicious.
