LankyAnglican: The Closure of Clitheroe Job Centre
http://lankyanglican.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-closure-of-clitheroe-job-centre.html
The musings of a tall Lancastrian Priest in the Church of England. The Closure of Clitheroe Job Centre. Back in May when Clitheroe Christians in Partnership hosted a conference called Feed a Friend. We were challenged by the speakers to get back to 'old fashioned' campaigning. The instant nature of the internet and the ubiquity of online petitions and so-called ' slacktivism. One of the things that's getting me fired up at the moment is the proposed closure of the Clitheroe Job Centre. Clitheroe. The ans...

The musings of a tall Lancastrian Priest in the Church of England. More on the Clitheroe Job Centre. Since my blog post. The other day, I've had a flurry of visits to this blog, in fact hundreds of pageviews. Clearly people are interested in this issue. So here's a final encouragement to get involved in the consultation. If you're in Clitheroe, fill out one of the postcards in your churches this weekend, or write to Steve Johnson. Also, let Nigel Evans. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). HOQBET.COM ...

Between Switzerland and France, or the Balkans meet the Alps. Tuesday, October 18, 2011. À la recherche des crepes perdus. It wasn't the pancakes that brought us to Lyon on a sunny October afternoon but, once there, we remembered excellent crepes. After that mega dose of Nutella we continued the walk in high spirits, happy to amble without a plan or a goal (short on objectives, too). We ran into a brass band in the middle of a square. Links to this post. A festival is always a good occassion for the loca...

Between Switzerland and France, or the Balkans meet the Alps. Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Was indicative in its mouth-wateriness. This is a traditional Lyonnaise restaurant called bouchon. Much like a bistro, serving simple but hearty food with an emphasis on meat. Bouchon. Literally means cork and there are various theories about the origin of the name. Despite having read about Lyon's old town with its traboule. Another thing I noticed browsing through my Lyon pictures: there is a lot of bright red in t...

Borderline: Vuelvo al Sur
http://wrongresponse.blogspot.com/2011/12/vuelvo-al-sur.html
Between Switzerland and France, or the Balkans meet the Alps. Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Vuelvo al Sur,. Como se vuelve siempre al amor,. Vuelvo a vos,. Con mi deseo, con mi temor. Llevo el Sur,. Como un destino del corazon,. Soy del Sur,. Como los aires del bandoneon. Sueño el Sur,. Inmensa luna, cielo al reves,. Busco el Sur,. El tiempo abierto, y su despues. Quiero al Sur,. Su buena gente, su dignidad,. Siento el Sur,. Como tu cuerpo en la intimidad. So, what do you think? The Greying of the Squirrel.

The musings of a tall Lancastrian Priest in the Church of England. Helpful post about St Paul's. Nick Baines has some wise words about the situation at St Paul's. He makes the point that the C of E is not the RC church. Rowan is not a Pope. Dioceses are our unit of authority, and even then, Cathedrals are different. This is a complex matter and Nick explains it more eloquently than I can. Take a look here. Links to this post. Labels: church of england. Sermon for Simon and Jude, Westcott Chapel, 28-10-11.

The musings of a tall Lancastrian Priest in the Church of England. Another sermon from Advent 3. But not one of mine. This sermon. From a friend and fellow rookie-minister who's based in the States is an interesting read. Thanks Brekke. Links to this post. Sermon for Advent 3. It's been a hectic time here in Clitheroe. We returned from a visit to the States for the start of Advent, and our feet haven't really touched the ground yet - I suppose that's what the week after Christmas is for. With child, a li...

The musings of a tall Lancastrian Priest in the Church of England. The one thing I have to remind myself is that we are enjoying unusual weather for Lancashire (even in the height of summer), so we need to imagine the place shrouded in mist and drizzle with a steady westerly wind before we make any final decisions. Until we ge further along the line, I can't really give any more details here. As soon as I can, I will. Links to this post. Just hold your nerve. With 9 for 51 in the second innings). And the...

The musings of a tall Lancastrian Priest in the Church of England. We've reached that point in the term when life seems hard. The mornings are dark, the evenings are dark. Even Cambridge has succumbed to a blanket of drizzle reminiscent of the greyest Lancaster days. Work is piling up around my ears: supervision essays, pastoral portfolio, dissertation, reading. It feels like everything else gets squeezed as a result. Family time, play time, prayer time, downtime. No time! Links to this post. Of course, ...
