Monday, September 30, 2013. Halloween Horror Watch #1: Curse of the Werewolf and Valley of the Gwangi. It's everyone's (my) favorite time of year! I'm going to try to maintain my horror write-ups as in years past, but we'll see how many I get to this year. I optimistically stacked the first 31 slots of my Netflix queue with appropriate movies, so the intent is there. I promise. The Curse of the Werewolf. Thanks to my good friend Howard, who transferred his PAL version to NTSC (who's the real pal, huh?

Monday, September 24, 2012. A Message to My Football Loving Friends. It's becoming increasingly popular to hate on the NFL replacement refs. Do a quick Deadspin search. There is absolutely no reason for the owners to give in if people keep watching the game, no matter how much people complain. It's just like NBC's coverage of the Olympics. What incentive did they have to show things live when they were scoring huge ratings. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Blogs of My Friends. Art, Design, Love, and Fun.

Sunday, October 28, 2012. Halloween Horror Watch #7. Halloween III: Season of the Witch. 1983) - Tommy Lee Wallace. News can't travel across the country in 1982 even without Twitter? The minute the east coast went down, the rest of the country should know what happened. I wish that Joe Dante had directed this, as was originally planned. Sure, it might have meant no Police Squad! 2006) - Michael J. Bassett. 2011) - Stig Svendsen. I can barely believe it and yes, he has gained a few pounds), but you come t...

Friday, October 26, 2012. Halloween Horror Watch #6. 1973) - Douglas Hickox. This is worth seeing just for the chance to watch Vincent Price play dress-up. He has more costume changes than a Lady Gaga concert (reference! It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. 1966) - Bill Melendez. I'm still not sure why Lucy was holding it for no one). 1985) - Phil Roman. The Garfield of my youth had teeth. There are t hese infamous string of comics from 1989. And Garfield: His Nine Lives. Wednesday, June 19, 2013. The Big Year (2011). I don't remember how or why The Big Year secured a spot on my Netflix queue. The last Jack Black movie I sought out was the terrible Year One from 2009 (mostly because of Harold Ramis, Michael Cera, and a hell of a supporting cast). Owen Wilson? The critics read as though they are actively mad that Black, Martin, and Wilson weren't unleashed upon the material even though it doesn't take much research. To find these same critics crapping. Monday, July 23, 2012. I just returned from seeing Possession at my movie theater. It's an incredibly intense (and angry) movie that I've described as Cassevetes meets Lynch and a hyper-melodrama with supernatural elements as well as comparing it to Cronenberg's The Brood (for the anger) and Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut (for the dream/nightmare-like atmosphere)*. As you can imagine, Possession is very hard to describe and is vastly different than what the title suggests. Here's the trailer:. Let's not mince ...

Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Halloween Horror Watch #34: Creature from the Black Lagoon. Creature from the Black Lagoon. I follow a blog on Tumblr. One aspect of this genre that has become glaring (especially after Attack of the Crab Monsters. Great monster. Cool underwater photography (the little ballet between Gill Man and Julie Adams is justifiably iconic). Adequate execution. This post taught me I cannot type lagoon without making a typo my first try. Labels: creature from the black lagoon. Halloween H...
