Even though some people will say Kilimanjaro is an easy climb - it isn't, principally due to the altitude which can have a debilitating effect on those attempting the summit. The purpose of this Alpine trip was to consolidate my mountaineering skills immediately prior to setting off for the Himalaya with the aim of being an independent mountaineer able to confidently lead a rope team on moderate and rocky Alpine terrain at grade PD or above. Hi, I'm Andy James. Welcome to my site. I am a developing mountaineer and this site is about my progression towards the Himalaya. It started with a summit of. Success on 'Kili' caused me to look higher to Argentina's Aconcagua first in 2010. And then again in 2011. Then in 2012 I did two trips to the Alps, to Arolla and Mont Blanc. In June and then to the Saas. In March 2013 I took a Scottish Grade 3 course in Balachulish. And then in August a further week of Alpine training in Chamonix.
