The shepherds thought of them as pets. And smiled as they howled. These men, so blind. Each day would find. A new lamb disemboweled. Is there no hope for this poor flock? No safety from the staff? Your oil and wine. Is the singular remedy I’ve ever known. My wings were so frail. All the wind and the rain and the dust wore them thin. They were destined to fail. From the weakness that lives in the hearts of all men. Somehow I will prevail. These old bones sprouted feathers and will fly again.
