SingleTrack Freedom

Saturday, July 04, 2009. Monday, June 29, 2009. To define the term "screwing off" you should have been with us ALL DAY Saturday, taking notes armed with a pad and pen. Thom P, Jeff W and myself held class on blowing off steam, taking no prisoners, riding lots, staying out way late, eating red meat and not flossing. Well, maybe the flossing part was just me. Happy (almost) bygone-bachelorhood to my friend Thom P. Sunday, June 14, 2009. A one word answer; YES. Saturday, February 28, 2009. News on his Blog.

SingleTrack Freedom: Otis

http://andysanidas.blogspot.com/2009/02/otis.html

Sunday, February 15, 2009. Even if the drive down was four hours it's worth the trip. Matt and I on single speeds and both Jims' and Al on full suspensions. The trails are comprised much of winding single track with small climbs and banked corners. 19.1 mph was top speed on the chute trail. major fun. We need another try at finding all the trails, we covered only half of what Otis has to offer.we just needed a trail guide but Tom and Reenie were soaking up the rays in Florida with Harvey. It's a good way...

SingleTrack Freedom: September 2008

http://andysanidas.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. At 4:15 on Saturday morning I was laying comfortably on a double layer of fleece and therm-a-rest, wrapped in a zero degree mummy bag. Listening to large rain drops beat like a drum on my rain fly. I take a moment to ask my self why I get myself into these situations. My friend Matt was racing his first VT50, as was Mr Christopher Igleheart. Those guys put in a solid effort, climbing to their limits and likely beyond. That's what racing is all about. Looking off "pain precipic...

SingleTrack Freedom: August 2008

http://andysanidas.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Tuesday, August 26, 2008. A cool August sky over North Conway NH. A first ride into complete darkness for the season,. A first night cold enough to wear a sweater,. A first realization summer is nearing the end. Molly; ice kite surfing and dh. way cool. oh and a plumber! Our reward, redneck rock. The climb so steep we had to walk. Pointed it down and cycled the shock. Railing corners, squeeze but don't lock. An enjoyable eve Daren and Ken. But darkness my friend, not you again.

SingleTrack Freedom: baseline

http://andysanidas.blogspot.com/2009/02/baseline.html

Saturday, February 07, 2009. So today the best possible thing happened; I got my ass kicked. But not just kicked. That's putting it lightly.I got destroyed. It was pretty intense. I did survive. Barely. A smile on my face as I spun slowly home post destruction (the smile detectable somewhere under all the salt and road grime). Skip and I originally threw together a casual plan to pedal west out toward Boxford. That's where the plan was abandon. They were moving quick and it took a mile to catch'em. You j...

Sunday, June 26, 2005. 15:00 local US-Zeit (21:00 in D). Kurz nach Landung sofort aufs Klo, und nochmals gespuckt. Steig mal ...

Bradbury Mountain Enduro | Reenie

https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2007/07/31/bradbury-mountain-enduro

Sunday Tom and I headed up to the fine state of Maine for a “short” race put on by the good folks at EFTA. One 30-mile loop through the trails of Bradbury Mountain State park. So when I tell you had fun at the Bradbury Mountain Enduro, you can figure it means I didn’t spend too much time in the pain cave (tm Andy. The singletrack dumped out onto a jeep trail and the course marshall there said “only a 100 yards to the finish! 8221; I said “get out! Laquo; Rocking the Big Wheels – Part III. Blog at WordPre...

You Can Never Have Too Many Lumens | Reenie

https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2008/10/24/you-can-never-have-too-many-lumens

You Can Never Have Too Many Lumens. I used to hate night riding. The dark, the cold, the 75% reduction in my skill level (bringing me down to about 1.5 skills). I had so many bad night rides, I just gave up on night riding altogether. Then I got an expensive massage. The massage itself was the usual rate, but Nolan. Has to stimulate this economy! https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2008/07/29/wilderness-101-sixth-times-a-charm

Wilderness 101 – Sixth Time’s a Charm. Short story: 11:05 on the SS – fastest finish ever for me. I spent most of the first 40 miles socializing. About a third of the way up the first climb, a guy on an SS asked if I had done this race before and if I minded if he rode along with me (we’ll call him Delaware, because I forgot his name about 3 seconds after he told me what it was). This exact same thing happened at Lumbejack! Him: It’s Paul. Him: We stayed at the same place. Laquo; What’s Up? Hey, so I&#82...

An Inconvenient Weekend | Reenie

https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2008/06/11/an-inconvenient-weekend

As I was yelling to the general population that the guy ran the stop sign, he ran up to me and said “That was me, I’m so sorry! 8221; Then I was completely not mad any more and just sat down to wait for the cops to show up. My original plans for the weekend were:. Sat: LUNA chic MTB ride and bbq with Jimena Florit at her house in CT, which I was insanely psyched about. Sun: 100K Ride for the Cure in Gloucester with Sue in the morning, BBQ w/ our mtb friends in the afternoon. Instead, it was:. You are com...

Mohican 100 Pictures | Reenie

https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2008/06/02/mohican-100-pictures

I had a good race – only slightly faster than last year. But I suffered a lot less and even managed to take pictures along the way. I’m working on the thousand words, but I’ll post the pictures now, because there are lot of them and it would take me three years to integrate them with the text. We got to the Mohican Lodge early, so we put the bikes together while we waited for our room to be ready. And other members of the Kudzu Mafia on the porch at Camp Nuhop. The inevitable portapottie line. See you in...

Maximus Kick in the Assimus | Reenie

https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2007/05/08/maximus-kick-in-the-assimus

Maximus Kick in the Assimus. Kind of on a whim, Tom and I headed down to Michaux State Forest in Pennsylvania last weekend to race the 50-mile monster course of the Michaux Maximus. Race, just outside of Gettysburg. We had heard good things about the riding in Michaux state forest – things like “rocky” and “technical” – and figured this would be a good way to check it out. Short version of the race report. Rocks, rocks, rock, long climb, rocks, rocks, long climb rocks, ad nauseum. Happy just to finish.

I’m a Lumberjack and I’m OK | Reenie

https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2007/06/18/im-a-lumberjack-and-im-ok

I’m a Lumberjack and I’m OK. I’ve had that song. Stuck in my head all weekend. This last week was a blur. We left the house at 4:40am Wed to catch a 6am flight for Detroit (yeah, that’s kind of late… we got to the gate and they were already boarding) and we didn’t get back until 12:30 this morning. I’ve been busy at work all day and just got time to blog up the Lumberjack 100. After we got back to the hotel, I went to put my number plate on the bike and it was missing! No one wanted to pass, so I chugged...

Cruising at Cohutta | Reenie

https://reeniecg.wordpress.com/2008/04/29/cruising-at-cohutta

Yes, this is really late, but I was on vacation until yesterday. I had access to the intraweb the whole time, but computers remind me of work so much that by last weekend, I wouldn’t even open my laptop to read my nonwork email in case I accidentally saw a Framemaker or RoboHelp icon. Also, the race? A really expensive group ride (stole that from Lindsay. I’m not at all thrilled with my time, but it was a 100 miler in April and I finished. It was a training race!
