Z31: September 2005
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 29, 2005. I'll fix the dates so it's all together. But for now, I'm feeling useless again. I've never had any ambition to speak of, and at the moment I have very little confidence either. Which is only going to get worse unless I actually start to get things done, beginning with shoe-horning all my possessions back into the cupboard where I can't see them. On the bright side I do think I've developed a more fluid driving style and greater observation of road-signs. Back on the road, t...

Z31: April 2006
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 29, 2006. So it’s a full year since I was revising for my finals, and I've been wondering whether this year hasn't been harder than the last. OK, obviously. 1) feedback every few days or weeks: someone saying ‘this was good’ or ‘it would have been better if’. Improving something without any feedback as to what's wrong with it is extraordinarily difficult in comparison. 2) a clearly-defined timescale and the reasonably safe knowledge that, if you make the effort, things will turn out OK.

Z31: August 2005
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Well, not quite, but I'm going to write this blog in reverse order. 1) Decided cleaning the bike can wait til tomorrow. Feeling a bit shaky, whether because of electricity, fatigue or hunger I'm not sure! Time for some dinner now, I think [8:19pm]. 2) Got irate at the, erm, wazzocks round here and their 'parking'; on the pavement, on the right hand side of the road, at a T-junction seems to be popular. One of the culprits this time was a police car. 3) Saw an orange. 7) Inspir...

Z31: June 2005
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 30, 2005. Stephen's last night in town. As Ben Folds almost put it. No doubt will blog copiously in due course. Posted by Z31 at 11:00 pm. Close Encounters of the Cambridge kind. I really don't want to lose contact with everyone; I really do want to see people this summer and hopefully beyond! I can't think of any good plans myself, mind. I have far, far too much hair. Not much I can do about it before Friday though. I was meant to be going to bed. Oops. Posted by Z31 at 3:46 am. I couldn'...

Z31: January 2006
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Do you suppose the 'desirable' criteria in a person specification are? I rather imagine that it's not actually worth applying for something unless you meet the 'desirable' as well as the 'essential' criteria, on the basis that if you don't, they're likely to be able to find another applicant who does. Of course many person specifications are so vague that I wouldn't know if I did. Posted by Z31 at 5:38 pm. That said, if you watch such TV programmes as the Deadly Knowledge Show.

Z31: December 2005
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 30, 2005. I've been reading Eats, Shoots and Leaves. And why not), and was struck by the note that "they're", "their" and "there" all sound the same, and that "you're" sounds like "your". Does anyone else disagree with this? Fascinating stuff, no? Apologies for the somewhat laboured punctuation. I suppose I can't leave this topic without revisiting again that classic Amazon review that went something like. Thi's film ha's me in stitche's every time. Posted by Z31 at 3:47 pm. I can't see ...

Z31: February 2006
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Some fell on stony ground, I see. No matter: four fresh comments to tempt you:. Of course it's not necessary to have a film to show you the way at all points of life, but it might be nice. Some friends were expounding the other day on a theory that whatever the life event, one can find succour in Dawson's Creek. To which I adopted a standard smile/nod/make-sarcastic-remark approach. But who knows, maybe they're right. Quiet in here, isn't it? 3 Some guy on Today. 4 Most import...

Z31: October 2005
http://sjmaloney.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 31, 2005. Shall we go cycling? Asked Andy. "Nah," quoth I. So here I am, twenty miles later. We went back to tackle the Ridgeway again, but no sooner had I stepped from the car than I remembered what it was that I'd forgotten. Suspect is hatless, repeat, hatless. In other news, although I just bought it at Fopp for a fiver, Monsoon Wedding. Is now a mere 3.97 at Amazon. Hurrah :). Posted by Z31 at 7:55 pm. To a flyer that's just been delivered, Abel and Cole.
